I've been thinking a lot about the name Helen recently. I've always loved the name, but it took a deeper meaning for me after my elementary art teacher passed away this May from an unexpected heart attack. She was only 44 years old and it prime physical health, so no one expected it. She was my favorite elementary teacher, and I know that without her, I wouldn't love art as much as I do today. She inspired so many people, including me, to have a deeper appreciation for art. I was quite close to her--I liked to go back and visit her each school year since I left the school in fifth grade, so her death has certainly been hard for me to deal with.

Her first name was Helen, and I thought it would be a nice way to honor her by using her name, especially because I've always loved it.

So what do you think of the name? And what middle names do you think would go with it? The only one I have so far is Helen Olympia.

Thanks Zayda. I really like:

Helen Rose
Helen Isabella
Helen Alannah (though I prefer it spelt Alana)

I love Rose as a middle name, but I'm hesitant to use it because its my name. I like names that honor people, but I've never been a fan of naming kids after the parents. I feel that names should be unique within the immediate family. I dunno though....Helen Rose is very pretty....But I don't have to even begin to worry about this yet haha (:

I completely agree!!

I'm so sorry about your loss. ;)

I used to love the name Helen, but I met someone in middle school named Helen who wasn't exactly the nicest person...so she kind of ruined it for me. :)

I love Helen Olympia!

I hate it when perfectly good names get ruined... :/
