I am still looking for a name for my last main character in a story ive been working on.
The girl I'm thinking of is very tough and independent and has grown up on the streets all by herself for as long as she can remember, I think I'll have her running away from an orphanage or something...anyway she doesnt really have a traditional name because she never really had a name she just adopted a nickname as she grew older. She picks pockets, steals and cons to survive...
So...I was thinking that her nn would have something to do with that or maybe a name she picked up because she lived in a certain neighborhood, like the nn Pockets cause she picks pockets or Figs cause she has fast fingers...but those are all I'm coming up with right now and they arent exactly right for her.

It would be a great help if you could get your creative juices going and help me come up with something along these lines or just ideas that I could work with. Also if there are any neighborhood names where you live that would make a good name then suggest those cause I could make the neighborhood where she lives that name and have her choose that name. (But only if it isnt a traditional name)

Thanks so much!

A few that I thought of are...Lucky, Clutch, Jazz (Not sure if that could work but I thought it sounded pickpockety), Quick, Swift, Slick.

A few "areas" around where I live that may work for you...Miromar, McGregor, Gateway, Golden Gate, and Cypress. (Sorry they aren't that great!)

Hope this helps.

I've been doing some thinking and the only thing I can come up with is Ward...like she was a ward of the state and thats all they called her at the orphanage where she was...then she ran away but still goes by Ward. What do you think?

I like the idea behind Ward, but it sounds incredibly masculine!

What about Indie/Indy for Independent?

Some neighborhoods:
Dundee
Askarben (in central Omaha...it spells Nebraska backwards!)
Or you could always use West Something or North Something. We have West Omaha with is really known, along with North and South Omaha, which is shortened to South O and North O, but not so much an East Omaha...

Hope this helps, sorry I can't really think!
