Ben and I are planning to wait a few years (at least) before we try for baby #2.  But since both of us are sooo picky when it comes to girl names, and our styles are so very different. I feel like I need to get a head start on the game and try to amass as many girl names as I can find just in case baby #2 is a girl.

Here is my list of girls names that I could actually see myself using. Unfortunately, Ben has vetoed just about all of them...

Andie - he prefers Andrew for a boy in honor of his brother Joshua Andrew, and I can't convince him to use Andie for a girl instead :(

Molly  - "A dog's name" or so he says

Percy  No

Sidda  - "Sounds like Baby Sitter"

The below names I like, but not sure if I'd actually use as a first name, maybe middles...

River - He actually likes this one...in the middle name spot.

Farris

True / Rue

Georgiana  - He has a brother George but he says no to Georgiana cause we live in Georgia...okay?

Prairie - He says "We don't live on the Oregon trail"

Laurence

Cordelia - We both love this one in the middle name spot.

Pheriby - An old family name on my mom's side

Joey / Josephine - I like this name, but I'm hesitant to use it because my mom's boyfriend is Joe, his son is Joseph and his son is Little Joe.  I also have a male cousin named Joey.

Winifred - With Wiley, I'm not sure I'd want to use another W name, at least in the first name spot.

Any suggestions based on the above would be great!  Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid I agree with Ben on most of your name choices :(  I love Andie/Andy, but only as a nickname for either gender. I don't see it as a full name.  To me, Percy leans more towards a masculine name, whether it is a full name or as a nickname for Perseus. But I could see it as a nickname for Persephone, if you like that. Molly is cute, but the funny part is that I know a dog with this name lol. If Ben doesn't like Sidda, maybe Sadie would be something that he likes? I love the name Sadie.

As for the middle names, I love Cordelia, Josephine, and True/Rue. I actually like Cordelia as a first name. I think it's beautiful, and it has many different nickname possibilities.

I'm not very good with girl names, but I'll give a few suggestions that I can think of that fit with your names:

Elsie

Della

Piper

Susie

Coralie / Coraline

Audra

Athena

Prue / Prudence

Constance

Josie

Ruby

Hazel

I hope I helped a bit! Good luck!

Thanks, I tend to like nicknames or names that sound like nicknames in the first name spot.  My name is Katherine but I've always gone by Katie and therefore I have a bit of a disconnect from Katherine and find it rather unnecessary.  If I like the nickname better than the full name, then I don't see the point on bestowing the full name on my child.  When I do prefer the longer version of a name over any of its potential nicknames (i.e. Cordelia or Winifred) then I tend to prefer them in the middle name spot.

I do like the name Sadie but I find it is a bit too similar sounding to my own name.

I've actually considered several of the names you suggested...Ruby, Elsie, Audra, Piper, Hazel & Pru(e).  I think Ruby & Elsie are my favorites. I think I prefer Elsa though, it reminds me of Casablanca which is one of my (and Ben's) favorite old movies, the main character is named Ilsa.

Ironically, we currently have a dog named Suzie and my mom once had a dog named Josie so those are off limits :D

Thanks for the suggestions!

Jade is actually one of the names Ben likes but I've known several girls named Jade who have ruined the name for me.

If I did pick a first name for Andie, it would probably be Alexandra or one of its variants. I've never been a fan of Andrea. But I just adore the spunky and sweet Andie as it is.

I'm really crushing on Alma at the moment.  But of course, when I mentioned it to Ben he didn't like it.  Does anyone have any other suggestions that may be similar to Alma?

Also, Ben has stated he doesn't want any more -ee ending names since there are quite a bit in our family...Katie, Sally, Maddie, Gracie, Luci, Wiley and the dogs Suzie and Boogie :).  I adore girls names that end in -ee but I do see his point, so they are out.

Farrah would be a beautiful alternative to Farris. (though I do like Farris as well).

Maybe Della? or Coralie?
