My sons name is going to be Carter,

we've decided to change his middle name to Layne but now can't decide on which spelling to do for it:

Layne or Lane

I love the name but am worried that with a Y may be considered girly and then the spelling Lane may be too reminding of a road lane

What about theses??

Leine - completely diff spelling but could work.

Llayne - this lhas a simnilar appearance as Lloyd.. so could be more masculine if now take the y out Llane or Llaine
Laen/Laene - slightly more different approach
Layn - ♡ i do however like this as reminds me of Zayn.. and has a more masculine feel to it. maybe the 'e' on the end makes it more of a feminine looking name?

Leyne
Lain - again if you dont like the y..use an i.. :)

I think with it being a middle name you could get away with a different spelling. What do you think?

I agree that being a middle name, you can get away with whichever spelling you prefer...Feminine (Layne) or unique (as suggested above).

I think Lane is fine. Yes it is like a road, but it has enough history of use not to seem odd.

Lane has a strong quality about it, which i prefer over Layne, where the y seems to take away a little from the name. But ultimately, it's your son, so go with whatever you prefer :)

I like Carter Lane. Many people have the middle name Lane, so nobody should see it as weird or anything.
