I have decided that if my child it born a boy I shall name him Axel. It is a name I really like and have done for sometime however that does not necessarily mean that it is suitable therefore I would like to discuss its suitability.
What sort of person do you think a child with this name will develop into? Of course a name doesn't truly make a person however I have read that it can affect who they develop into.

I see it as a unique yet strong name, a name of someone who is a little bit of an eccentric perhaps. I like it because it is old and traditional, perhaps not in English speaking nations but that is what makes it unique as he will not meet many with the same name. I want him to have somewhat of an unusual name yet my family is very traditional and worry that it might be a little too 'new age'. That and my desire to bring him up vegan might make us sound a little like hippies!

I have decided that his middle name is to be James, his fathers name, to make him sound a little more normal.

But enough of our life story. What connotations do you associate with the name Axel?

I've actually liked the name Axel for a while now...pretty much ever since I saw Beverly Hills Cop (Eddie Murphy) and learned that it wasn't some rocker "new age" name (Axl Rose) but one with lots of history.

That being said I adore the name Axel James <3. I think Axel is a great name that will be unique without being weird or obnoxious. I think it is a name that will age well.

As to what kind of person he will be, I can't really say. I happend to think that a person shapes the name, the people we meet with certain names shape our perception of the name rather than a name shaping a person.

I love Axel with the nn Ace (not Axe :)). I know a family with the names:

Max and (I forget his wife's name) w/ Emma, Otto, Axel and Kole. So It always makes me think of them. And Axel is a darling little boy!
