I was just 19 and in my second year of uni when my carefree partying ways finally caught up to me. My best friend and I went to an end of semester party in December and a very drunken one-night-stand turned into a positive pregnancy test. It took me two weeks to find the father but he was not ready to be involved.

At the 16 week scan, I found out I was pregnant with a boy: my son. At 39 weeks and 2 days, my baby boy was born. My mom and sister were with me when we met James Tyler Elgan for the first time.

 

9 months later I am in the park with James in his stroller when a man pauses during his jog near us. James instantly starts reaching for the dog, and the man kindly comes over so James can pet his dog.

The man begins babbling with James and after a little while turns his attention to me. He introduces himself as Adam Richard Barnes and we chat for a while. Before we leave he invites both James and I to dinner, and I spontaneously say yes!

 

After a handful of casual dates, he asks me to be his girlfriend (cheesy!) and then he tells me he wants me to meet his family this Thanksgiving. A week later, James and I meet Adam's parents and his 6 younger siblings.
