EDIT: I ADDED A POLL, BUT IT ONLY LET ME HAVE THREE QUESTIONS. HERE'S THE LINK FOR THE "WATER" POLL: http://www.babynameg...?showtopic=9671

Okay, so I had a dream last night that kind of morphed into a pretty good story; think The Last Airbender meets X-men meets The Fifth Element - sort of. It revolves around these four sisters (or friends - I haven't decided yet), and each of them controls one of the four elements. (I might incorporate some mythology or folklore about elementals, but I need to do some more research first.) Their personality also reflects which element they control (see the descriptions below). Now, I just need names. I thought about having their names somehow reflect their element (for example, Earth could be named Eartha or Air could be named Erin), but I'm not sure if I like that idea or not. Basically I'm looking for anything that encompasses either their personality or element. I'm sorry the descriptions are so long, I went a little crazy. You don't really have to read all of it, but I thought it might help. Thanks in advance! :)

~Malerie

Fire: She is the spirited one of the bunch - enthusiastic, assertive, individualistic, good-natured, fun-loving, and adventurous. She exudes this radiant, vitalizing energy that seems to glow with warmth and exuberance. She yearns for the freedom to express herself individually, and this is displayed through a fairly unrelenting insistence on her own point of view which creates some conflict within the group. She has great natural generosity, but she also has a big ego and shows it frequently. She has great faith in her own powers and abilities, so much that she frequently overlooks and fails to take advantage of the talents and abilities of the others. She tries to do it all herself and does not delegate well. Despite her flaws, she is very capable of inspiring others and is a natural leader. She's always the one out front leading the charge. Her sense of honesty is straightforward and often child-like; thus, she believes that everyone is like herself, an open book, which can be considered somewhat gullible and naïve. One of her biggest weaknesses is her need to be recognized and admired. Appreciation is more important to her than anything; nothing hurts more than being ignored.

Earth: She is the dependable one - reserved, quiet, practical, responsible, down-to-earth, and steadfast. She is susceptible to pessimism and moodiness. She is the organizer, the builder, the hard-worker. Very pragmatic, she doesn't often gamble or take unnecessary chances. She has a very no-nonsense approach to life. She understands the reality of a situation and places a great deal of importance on value, in both a material and human sense. Her biggest weaknesses are lack of imagination, predictability, and blind adherence to rules and regulations.

Air: She is the smart one, the brain - intellectual, thoughtful, sensitive, creative, easygoing, carefree, and sociable. She is usually more concerned with theory than application and struggles with following tasks all the way through; but even though she may ponder and vacillate, she rarely makes foolish mistakes. Rational and logical, she analyzes situations fully, thinking them through and planning carefully before acting. She is almost always objective and fair-minded. She is very people-oriented and outgoing. Her biggest weakness is also her biggest strength; she is constantly thinking which could lead to her being trapped by her own mind in impractical dreams. (Although, some would argue her biggest weakness is the tendency to be chronically late, forgetful, and sometimes a little sarcastic.)

Water: She is the heart of the group - kind, self-content, even-tempered, peaceful, calm, reliable, accepting, affectionate, relaxed, rational, curious, observant, and sometimes shy. She is very closely in touch with the group's feelings, and in tune with the nuances and subtleties in the environment that others don't even notice. Her approach to life is to understand it through emotions, and she's best when playing her hunches (kind of like Gibbs and his gut - for all you NCIS fans out there). She has an intense sensitivity that permits her to experience the heights of emotional bliss, but it can also take her to the depths of despair. She also has a natural feel and sense for the arts - dance, music, poetry, and photography. Her biggest flaw is the inclination to let the heart rule the head.

Earth...a bit unoriginal, but maybe something to do with the earth like a mineral/gem (I know that is kind of an element on it's own...sort of) or something to do with mountains, cliffs, plants etc:
Ruby
Sapphire
Fern
Clifftina (ok I just made that up. Probably don't use that)
Emerald (I had a story planned out once about 4 girls with gem names. Something like Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby and Opal-can't remember exactly)
Isla (as in island?)

Water... kind of think the same thing but to do with oceans, rivers, etc:
Oceana
Aqua
Rivera
Lake
Nami (end of Tsunami)
Raine
Storm

Air... Oh this is a tough one. I kind of like Erin
Ariel?
Aura
Tuula (apparently is Finnish for 'wind'
Sphera (something to do with the atmosphere)

Fire...another hard one
Red? (fire is red, or orange)

Or just a story suggestion to help with names, maybe you could make them all enemies or something and give them opposite names like water destroys fire, fire destroys earth and...does earth destory air? lol. And aren't fire and air like...friends? :) (ok I've confused myself). But what I was trying to say is give like water a fire name or something like that. Just a suggestion... :)
Hope I helped a little bit

Sorry I haven't responded to your suggestions yet. I've gotten kinda busy lately with school stuff, but I've been making a list of my favorites. I'm thinking about putting a poll on here soon (when I figure out how). But overall, the ideas up there are fantastic! Thanks again and keep 'em coming! :)

I really like both Serephina & Zephyra but they are too close to use both. I like Zephyra a lot and I think Endellion nn Endy or Burnadette nn Bex are the other two I really like for fire. I REALLY like Rumi for Earth (my second choice would be Terra), but I'm worried that Endy & Rumi are a bit too similar with the two syllable names ending in Y. :\ For Water I like Ondine or Nereida but I worry that maybe Ondine and Endy are too similar :D I really like Endy but it seems to mesh with the other names.

So my top choices are...
Fire - Endellion nn Endy & Burnadette nn Bex
Air - Zephrya & Avis
Earth - Rumi & Terra
Water - Ondine & Nereida

Favorite Combos....

Bex (Burnadette), Rumi, Zephrya, & Ondine
Endy (Endellion), Terra, Avis & Nereida
Endy (Endellion), Terra, Zephyra & Nereida
Endy (Endellion), Rumi, Zephyra & Nereida

I kinda haven't decided yet. This whole story has kinda been put on the back burner for now. This post was from what, the beginning of February? That was when all that stuff happened with my grandpa. And now, I'm so busy with school - I think I'm losing my mind! Give me a few weeks to finish up, and then I'll get back to it. :D

Although, I think we've got the water name figured out! :)
