It's 10 am here in Afghanistan and I'm bored out of my mind because I don't have to do anything until 11. So I was browsing the polls and commenting on them, and I was also looking at some random first names in my email address book. I jotted some down that I liked or thought were interesting. Tell me what you think or what middle names you would pair with them. Now, I'm not partial to any of them, so be as honest as you'd like. I know how we can be on this site (lol), but you won't hurt my feelings one bit. Some of these names I would like as a middle name, and some I think are nice enough to be a first name. But all of them are names that I have never considered until now. Here they are, in no particular order:

Boys:
Edwin
Crispin
Judah
Cassius
Anakin
Cameron
Malakai / Malachi
Simeon
Gideon
Angel
Basil
Whitt
Emery
Paris
Felix
Micah
River

Girls:
Casey
Robin
Lucia
Luna
Jordan
Camille
Matilda
Charlotte
Angel
Paris
London
Ariel
Melody
London

What do you think?

Boys:
Edwin - NMS.. seems a bit old fashioned. Prefer Edward.
Crispin - NMS.
Judah - Prefer Jude, Jonah, Josiah etc.
Cassius - Love this one actually. :P
Anakin - NMS, I know a girl Anika, so it put me off. Plus, too Star Warsy for me.
Cameron - It's cute. :D
Malakai / Malachi - Love love love.
Simeon - Prefer Simon. This is too jewish for me. xP
Gideon - LOVE this at the moment. It's so handsome and strong!
Angel - NMS. Makes me think of Buffy.
Basil - NMS. - quietly giggles-
Whitt - Hmm. See, I'm not sure about this one!
Emery - LOVE! It's so cute and lovely!
Paris - NMS, know a guy named Paris who's a jerk.
Felix - Again, I'm hesitant. I don't know if I love it or hate it. It's MARMITE!
Micah - Love. :P
River - Love this as a mn!

Girls:
Casey - Prefer Casey on a boy (Which is weird, 'cause I only know girl Casey's!)
Robin - LOVE this one on a girl. ;)
Lucia - Love love love.
Luna - Love this, but will always remind me of Rosie's fish.

Ooh! LILAH'S BACK! :D How's it going?! B)

Melody - Love this one. Was going to be my name. :'D

Yes I'm back. I have internet in my office, and since I have no days off, I can check in here everyday now :P

Your name was going to be Melody!?!?! ;) SO WAS MINE!! That's so weird. My mom said she wanted to name me Melody or Melanie, but then she saw a show with someone named Delilah and fell in love. I used to say "eww mom, Melody?". But now I'm kinda liking it.

As for the rest of your comments, thank you so much:

Basil - I wouldn't use this name, but it made me think of the little boy in Baby Geniuses and he's so cute in that movie. I had never heard it on someone before or after that movie, til now.
Judah - I never used to like this name. I agree with you about Jonah and Josiah, they are already on my list lol
Edwin - I have a distant cousin named this, and I love the nickname eddie for a little boy. But I wouldn't use this name
Crispin - I don't know what I think about this name yet lol
Cassius - I love it. It is a guilty pleasure of mine
Anakin - I think it sounds cute, but I don't want people to think I love Star Wars. I do love the names Luke and Leia though lol
Cameron - I'm beginning to like it
Simeon - I do like Simon better
Gideon - It's been growing on me :P
Angel - I like it, but i don't know if I'd ever consider using it
Whitt - this is another name from Baby Geniuses and I think I love it. But it doesn't sound like a full name...
Emery - I'm loving it
Paris - this is my little cousin's middle name. His name is Elijah Paris and I think it sounds so cute
Felix - I know a few guys with this name. I have never considered using it until the genie showed me Felix River. I still don't know though
Micah - I'm beginning to love it
River - this has been a guilty pleasure of mine, but it might move to my actual list lol

Casey - Now that you mentioned it, i think it sounds better on a boy also
Robin - I love Raven, and I am beginning to like Robin now
Lucia - a new addition to my list as of a few days ago. I have always thought Lucy was so cute on a girl, but I didn't want to use that. I love Lucia
Luna - I recently came across this name and fell in love with it. It's beautiful. I also love Lola
Jordan - I used to love this for a boy when I was younger, and a few years ago I liked it for a girl. But I don't know now
Camille - I'm really beginning to like this one
Matilda - I really like this name. I thought of the combination Ruby Matilda and I think it sounds so cute
Charlotte - I recently started liking this because I think the nn Charlie on a girl is adorable
Angel - I like Angela and Angelica better, but I love Angel as a nn
Paris - it reminds me of Gilmore Girls too. I think I like it though
London - I wouldn't use this
Ariel - I prefer Ariella also

Thank you for your opinions. Keep them coming, and if you like them, tell me what you think would be good combinations for them. They can be either first names or middle names, and you can use names that aren't on this list also. Whatever comes to mind!

I was just playing around with the genie, trying to get some new ideas, and it came up with Madeleine Phoenix. What are your thoughts about this name? I really don't know what I think about it yet.

I love Judah, Cassius, Gideon and Micah. I prefer Caspian to Crispin and Edward to Edwin.
I quite like Malachi & Simeon, though I'd use them as middle names, probably.
Cameron is nice, just doesn't stand out particularly.
Emery & Felix are cute, I see them on a child but I don't think they would age well at all. Whitt could make a nice nickname for Whitman.

Angel, Basil, Paris and Anakin are not my taste at all, though I like Anika on a girl. River is not my style either, but it makes a nice mn.

For girls, I absolutely love Charlotte and Matilda.
Second favourites are Camille {though I prefer Camilla} and Lucia, though I prefer just Lucy.
Ariel is nice too, I love the meaning but is sounds kinda frilly to me.
Luna might be nice, but it's my dog's name so that kinda ruins it.
I don't like Jordan at all, but it's a boy name to me anyways.
I'm not fond of city names, so Paris and London are out. Melody is one of those tooth-ache-sweet, frilly names that I don't like-- no offense!
Angel is not even a name for me; Casey sounds a bit masculine but it's okay I guess. Robin is nothing special, but still a sound, solid name.

Thank you for the honest opinions. I agree that Caspian is much nicer than Crispin. Caspian is one of those names that I'd love to use, but I don't think I have the guts. I was also going over Whitman and Whitt as a nickname. I think someone also suggested Whitley, but I found that to be a little feminine.

First off.....LOOOOVVVVVVEEEEE the name Whitt :P. Whitman nn Whit is my number 1 boy name.
Second...My best friend is named Robin...Robin Michelle, which I've always liked. :D

As for the rest of the boys names....I like Judah but prefer Jude. Felix & Basil are cute but probably wouldn't age well. Cassius is okay as long as they can pull off the feminine nn Cass. And Crispin might be growing on me but its a bit too tryndy for my taste (same goes for River). I'm not really a fan of the rest.

Girls...I really like Lucia and Camille. Ariel is okay and I like Charlotte but because of certain people I know I would probably never use. The rest are not really my style.

I love Whitt also. Ever since I saw the movie Baby Geniuses, with the twins Whitt and Sly, I've loved it. That's where I got Basil too, but I wouldn't use that, except maybe on a pet lol. I even tried to find a name that would give me the nickname Sly, but all I found was Sylvester, which I don't like. I posted a topic a while ago asking if I can us Sly for Silas/Sylas, but I got mixed feedback. I think it might work, I don't know.

As for Cassius, I think it's pronounced CASH-us. Atleast, that's how I always heard it. So his nickname would be Cash, which is cute. However, I love the name Caspian, but that would definitely have a feminine nickname.

I remember...Baby Geniuses is also where my love of the name Whit began :D...I think I posted that Sylas/Silas nn Sly would be very cute.

I've always pronounced Cassius (KASS ee uss) and according to babynamesworld.com it can be pronounced either (KASS ee uss) or (KAH shuss) <-- not sure about this, similar to Cautious?

Anyway the prounouciation Cash-us is a new one...I could see the nn Cash though.

I also really like Caspian nn Cass or Casp? And Casper but probably would never use...unless I could use it as a middle name :P

For Cassius, I like the pronunciation KASS ee uss. That's how I thought it was pronounced when I first saw this name. I like both ways, so I guess it would be how he wants it pronounced. I love the nn Casp for Caspian. I think I would have a hard time if it came down to deciding between these two names.
