Hello all! I have been fostering a little girl since she was two years old. She's four now and we are in the middle of the adoption process. When the time comes, my husband and I really want to legally change her name because, let's be honest, her given name is kind of cringeworthy. (My goodness, I'm sure that sounds horrible.) However we know at 4 years old we can't just tell her that she has a completely different name, that won't go over well. It will be awkward for family members and friends, and especially *her*.

Her given name is A'Dorabelle Starshyne. We've mostly been calling her 'A' since we've had her. We've been trying to figure out names that start with an A and are similar or derive from her given name. We have two of our own kids named Skyler Matthew and Hannah Louise.

Can anyone help?

I think Annabelle is a great alternative and fits in with your other kiddos names. Good luck.

I like Annabelle Stacya. Has a more classic feel and fits with your other kids, but holds onto the sound of her current name.

That name is definitely hated by me, and trust me I don't hate many names. Some suggestions:

Annabelle Stacie
