I've heard this bouncing around lately and was curious as to how others felt about it. I have an Uncle James and thought this could be a cool way to recognize him. I also know that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds named their daughter James and I think it's  very pretty, but I wouldn't want it for my daughter's first name.

I like an alternative spelling if it's for a girl..ex.
Jaymes
Jaymz
Jaimes

I'm not a fan of James for a girl, it's just too entrenched as a boys name to me. It doesn't feel feminine to me, and if it were me I'd find an alternative to honor a James. Maybe Jamie? It's pretty similar but has more history as a unisex name, or even Jane would honor him with it's very similar sound.

I think the fact that James is also a surname in addition to be a masculine name puts it in unisex territory simply because surnames can go either way. In the southeastern US it is rather traditional to use family surnames as given names with no regard to gender.

I think it's cute name for a girl, I like it a bit better as a middle name though

I knew a girl with the middle name James, I think it's cute. It's really no different than giving your daughter the name Jamie imo

I like it! But if you're worried about it being too masculine you could always do a double middle name to girly it up a bit? I lean mote towards unisex names and boys names on girls. My daughters name is Austyn
