Okay, so, I'm working on a novel and I need a name for the female protagonist and the male antagonist; if I need help with other names later on, I'll let you know, but that's where I'm at right now. I'll describe the characters for you, and you can write your ideas for their names. I am looking primarily for a great first name, and then I could probably come up with middle and last names to match them, but if you have ideas for middle and last names as well, those would be much appreciated!

Female Protagonist: She'll be shy and sweet, but also intelligent. She's very soft-spoken, but has an anxious, lonely side to her as well. When she is truly wronged, she can hold very long grudges and be quite bitter (this being in the case of someone nasty doing/saying something incredibly hurtful and feeling no remorse) and reluctant to forgive the perpetrator. Books and cats have been her lifelong friends, and the deepest part of her just wishes to be loved (in the romantic sense) and wanted and understood. Her calling in life is to write poetry, but she feels hopeless because of how neglected poetry is as a literary genre these days. The most surprising thing about her is that she loves to swing-dance (click the link for a showcase/sampling of swing-dancing).

For her, I want a soft-sounding name; something without hard/harsh consonants and that is also somewhat common; don't get me wrong, I love rare/uncommon names, but I don't think those would work for this novel/character. [E.g. Emily (but Emily couldn't be the character's name because that's my name).]

Male Protagonist: He's incredibly funny, honest, hard-working, and friendly. As an artist of multiple mediums, he sometimes feels doubt about the quality of his work, though he does his best to hide any insecurities he feels. He's also surprisingly athletic and fairly smart, though not intellectual to a rare/excessive degree. He's great with little kids and sometimes surprises people with how serious he can be at times, and how thoughtful. He's someone who tries to always cheer everybody up, even though he's sometimes the one in need of encouragement. He's a master of spontaneity and is remarkably courteous, even to the point of being chivalrous.

I want a longer name for this character, letter- and/or syllable-wise, something that can be abbreviated in a couple of different ways. [E.g. Alexander, which can be abbreviated to Alex or Xander, et al. (but I can't use Alexander because my brother's name is Alexander).]

"Sophia Rose" sounds pretty. I'll add it to my list.  :)

William, Nathaniel, and Christopher are piquing my interest the most for the guy's name. Hm, so hard to pick!

Thank you all for your help, by the way. I appreciate it. :)
