So, I've recently been more obsessed with my name list than normal. I have an unnecessarily long list for both genders that I have no idea how to even begin cutting down. But that isn't my dilemma. I've noticed that a lot of my favorite boy names are Surnames or have the feel of a surname. So my dilemma is finding names that will fit with these types of names. I don't like boy names on girls or unisex names, except for Hayden.

I'll post a few of my favorite boy names below:

Basil

Colton

Cooper

Coulter

Cypress

Deston

Edison

Embry

Kincade

Knightley

Memphis

Parker

Porter

Reid

Samson

Simeon

Spencer

Sullivan

Tanner

Tucker

  1. Tell me the names that you like most, and why you like them
  2. Tell me that names that you didn't like and why. Be honest about your opinions.
  3. Most importantly, can you please tell me which girl names would fit well with some of these?
  4. What are some nicknames that you think would go with some of your favorites?
  5. What are some middle names that you think would go?
  6. Please suggest names that would be nice alternatives to the ones you didn't like / or suggest names that you think would fit well with my style.

I welcome any and all suggestions about what names I could use on female siblings of boys with these names. There are many more names on my list but for now, these are the ones that support my dilemma right now.

Here are just a few girl names that I like, so you can see my style, if I even have one: Aria, Bianca, Temperance, Sarai, Ruby, Piper, Penelope, Hayden, Simone.....

Thank you so much in advance.

Tell me the names that you like most, and why you like them. - My favourites from your list are Cooper, Samson, and Spencer. I love the sound and feel of these names, Cooper and Spencer have an older feel despite being trendy, and Samson I just find very handsome.

Tell me the names that you didn't like and why. Be honest about your opinions. - Knightley and Tanner. The sounds just don't appeal to me. I don't like the description like feel of Knightley, and Tanner just reminds of someone who tans a lot.

Most importantly, can you please tell me which girl names would fit well with some of these? - Hmm, with Cooper and Spencer I would have maybe Harper, or Isla. With Samson maybe Isabel, Olivia, Georgina, Fiona, or Bethany.

What are some nicknames that you think would go with some of your favorites? - Cooper and Spencer don't really need nicknames imo, but Samson could have Sam, Sammy, or Sonny.

What are some middle names that you think would go? - Hmm, Cooper Jackson, Cooper Linden, Cooper Felix, Spencer Thomas, Spencer Luke, Spencer William, Samson Isaiah, Samson Joseph, and Samson Peter.

Please suggest names that would be nice alternatives to the ones you didn't like / or suggest names that you think would fit well with my style. - I'll come back to this later, when my brain isn't having a melt down. You have some interesting lists :)

I like Knightly because it's different and strong.

Where I'm from, there is a bar called Kinkades. So I don't care much for that name.

I think Knightly Creed sounds good.

I think Stella complements it nicely: Knightly and Stella, Stella and Knightly.

Stella Grace

Hope this was helpful.

1. Tell me the names that you like most, and why you like them.

My favorites from your list are Spencer, Samson, and Parker.  Spencer is such a handsome, timeless name to me - even though it can be a surname, it works as a first name as well.  I like Samson because while it has that "surname feel" to me, it can also wear the classic nickname Sam.  Parker is definitely more "surnamey," but I personally think it's useable, especially since surnames as first names have become more popular within recent years.

2.  Tell me the names that you didn't like and why.  Be honest about your opinions.

My least favorites from your list are Coulter, Cypress, and Kincade.  Coulter seems like a clash between Cooper and Colton to me, and I much prefer Cooper and Colton to Coulter.  Cypress doesn't seem very useable to me - I can't really see a little boy or even a grown man with this name.  Cyrus seems more useable to me - but then again, there's the association with Miley Cyrus, which you may not want.  Kincade seems awkward as a first name, in my opinion.  I suppose he could go by the nickname Cade, perhaps?  Still, I personally am not a fan.

3.  Most importantly, can you please tell me which girl names would fit well with some of these?

Since you mentioned that you like surname names, the first girl names that come to mind are surname or even occupational names.  I think of Addison, Ainsley, Bellamy, Piper, Taylor, Cameron, Emory, Everly, Hadley, Bailey, Madison, Paige... however, many of these are unisex, and I understand that unisex names aren't your style.  So based on the girls names you did mention, how do you like the following?

Charlotte

Audrey

Violet

Grace

Elle

Olivia

Shelby

Anya

Gabriella

Elise

Ava

Sydney

Emma

Hannah

Lucy

Delilah

Haley

Amelia

Mila

Anna

Scarlett

Gemma

Lucia

Aubrey

Delaney

4.  What are some nicknames that you think would go with some of your favorites?

Like I mentioned, I like Sam for Samson.  Beyond my favorites: Tuck for Tucker, Colt for Colton, Coop for Cooper, Ed or Eddie for Edison, Sully for Sullivan.

5.  What are some middle names that you think would go?

Basil Ryan

Basil Weston

Basil Emmett

Colton James

Colton Maxwell

Colton Brady

Cooper Jackson

Cooper Elliott

Cooper Anthony

Coulter Eli

Coulter Jude

Coulter Ezra

Cypress Alexander

Cypress Luke

Cypress Ford

Deston Wyatt

Deston Andrew

Deston Thomas

Edison Vaughn

Edison Miles

Edison Chase

Embry Noah

Embry Leo

Embry Michael

Kincade Bentley

Kincade Morris

Kincade Drew

Knightley Ross

Knightley Gabriel

Knightley Matthew

Memphis Cole

Memphis Graham

Memphis Bradley

Parker Easton

Parker Nicholas

Parker Evan

Porter Henry

Porter Samuel

Porter John

Reid Oliver

Reid Harrison

Reid Benjamin

Samson Levi

Samson Cody

Samson Riley

Simeon Gray

Simeon Charles

Simeon Blake

Spencer Jacob

Spencer Mason

Spencer Daniel

Sullivan David

Sullivan Bryce

Sullivan Troy

Tanner Logan

Tanner Wesley

Tanner Isaac

Tucker Owen

Tucker William

Tucker Joseph

6.  Please suggest names that would be nice alternatives to the ones you didn't like / or suggest names that you think would fit well with my style.

Instead of Coulter, how about Cole, Carter, or Dexter?

Instead of Cypress, how about Preston, Curtis, or Crosby?

Instead of Kincade, how about Caden, Killian, or Connor?

Laugh-Dream-Love:

Thank you for your opinions. Spencer and Samson are definitely among the top ten on my list. However, an additional dilemma is this: as much as I love Samson, I fear that I won't be able to use it. My full name is Delilah, and with the whole Samson and Delilah story from the Bible, that may be a little weird :(

I agree that Tanner sounds like someone who tans a lot, LOL. I've never really thought of that. It isn't a name that I'm in love with. Just something that caught my interest.

From your suggestions on girl names, I like Harper, Isla, and Isabel. And from the combinations, I really like Cooper Linden, Spencer Luke, and Samson Joseph.

For Cooper and Spencer, if I were to use nicknames, I would probably just shorten them to Coop and Spence. But most likely I would just keep their full names. I love Sam and Sammy for Samson. It's funny that you suggested Sonny, because that's one of the first nicknames that I thought of for Samson and Edison.

I look forward to seeing your suggestions for similar names! Thank you!!

Meghan:

Thank you for your response. I first saw the name Cypress on a poll, and my first reaction was that it was not a name. But then I couldn't get it out of my mind and it started growing on me. I like the earthy feel of it, and I love the nickname Cy. It's definitely something that I have to put a lot of thought into, because the last thing I want is my kid being made fun of. And as weird as Kincade is, it's one of my favorites right now. I love the sound of it, and I love that I could use either the nickname King or Cade. But Coulter isn't one of my favorites. I like the nicknames Cole and Colt, but I like the name Colton much better.

From your suggestions on girl names, I really like Emory, Everly, Emma and Lucia. I liked a lot more, but they are already on my list: Piper, Paige, Charlotte, Violet, Sydney, and Delaney. It's funny that you suggested Delilah, this is my full name!

With the nicknames, you actually picked all of the ones I was thinking about. Sam, Tuck, Colt, Coop, Eddie and Sully (my favorite)

And Wow, I like so many of your combinations: Basil Weston, Colton Brady, Cooper Elliot, Cooper Anthony, Coulter Eli, Coulter Ezra, Cypress Alexander, Deston Wyatt, Edison Vaughn, Edison Chase, Embry Noah, Embry Leo, Embry Michael, Knightley Gabriel, Memphis Cole, Memphis Graham, Parker Easton, Parker Nicholas, Porter Samuel, Reid Benjamin, Samson Levi, Samson Riley, Simeon Gray, Spencer Mason, Tanner Logan, Tucker Joseph (TJ).

Thanks a lot for your great suggestions!!
