What do you all think of Jude on a girl?

In March I lost my "aunt" Jude, whom I was very close with to cancer. Her name was Judith, but always went by Judy or, more often, Jude. Growing up, I always admired her ability to keep smiling no matter how hard life got and I truly miss her and want to honor her by naming my daughter after her. My dilemma?

She hated her name.

We use to called her Judith to get a rise out of her.

I don't want to use a name that she didn't care for on my child, which is why I would like to use Jude. It would be a middle name most likely. Is it too masculine? For me, I'm not a gender person, so I think it works. But does it?

So...Jude on a girl. Good? Bad? First name ideas?

As long as it's a middle name I think it's fine. I actually know someone that did the exact oppisite. She was wondering if she had given her son a too girly middle name because she named him after her mom. I think middle names are a great place to honor family, and gender shouldn't matter

I think that as a middle name, it could pass... I will always see Jude to be very masculine though :/ I think Judie/Judy would be a more feminine way to honor her! Did she dislike Judy?

I think a wonderful way to honor your aunt would be to use Jude on a boy :) because your still using her name and all, still has her thought, buy Jude just works nicely on a boy <3 I have Greyson Jude on my list... You could even do Jude Matteo/Mattias/Matthew? ;) I know many people who honor the opposite gender on their babies... Like people who use Philippa or Pippa to honor Philip, Thea to honor Theodore, Willa/Willow to honor William, or Oliver to honor Olivia! <3

Hope this helps! <3

Layla/Laila Jude
Lila Jude
Elliana Jude
Naomi Jude
Everly Jude
Rileigh Jude
Kayleigh Jude
Aubrey/ee Jude
Cadence Jude
Hannah Jude
Mikayla Jude
Aspen Jude
Alana Jude
Mackenzie Jude
Eva Jude
Alexis/a Jude
Kayla Jude
Hartley Jude

Hope I could help. (:

I would ONLY use Jude for a girl as a middle name. I know several Jude/Judah's that are defenantly men's men.

I think that Jude is rather masculine, but it could work as a middle name, seeming it wouldn't be used in everyday life!! :(
I think that naming her, after your Aunty would be a lovely idea! <3

Thanks for the responses. I would use Judy but my last name ends in the same sound and it just sounds rhyme-y.

My top few right now are:

Emmelyn Jude
Aubrey Jude
Kaylee Jude
Stella Jude
Elizabeth Jude
Anabel Jude
Kendel Jude
Molly Jude

But I do like Jude August & Landon Jude for a boy as well.

I think Emmelyn Jude is my top right now.

Hummm. Do YOU like the name Judith? You could use that but only if YOU like it. What about her middle name? Could you use that?

I'm not really a fan of Judith, I find it a little dated. As for her middle name, I know it started with a P but I'm not 100% sure what the name was.

I agree with it being "Dated". What about like a name CLOSE to Judy? One of my middle names is after my dad, though it isn't the exact same.

What about:
Jody/Jodi
Jana
Juno
June
Juniper
Juney

Emmelyn Jude is really pretty :(
Though I prefer the spelling Emmeline.

I also like Aubrey Jude, Kaylee Jude, Stella Jude & Molly Jude.

Maybe you could change it a little, and replace the 'U' with an 'A'.. so like Emmelyn Jade...

I agree with Judith being dated..

I love Emmeline, but I would pronounce it -leen, not -lynn. I'm not sure how I would spell [emma-lynn]. I like Emmelyn & Emelyn. Suggestions?

Jaymey - I'm not really a fan of using other names, I kind of want to use Jude because it's what she always went by. Thanks anyways.

I used to love Emmalyn, personally. Emmelyn is just as beautiful though! I actually kinda like it more <3 Emmelyn Jude sounds beautiful! As a middle name, it is okay. Creativity is a great spot for middle names! .... Opps, you know, it took till the end of the message when I reread it to realize I miss said that.... :x But yeah haha.

Jude is one of those names that I just adore for a male OR a female. I don't think it's strange at all for a girl, and I find it very gender-neutral. Of the names on your list, I like the way Emmelyn Jude, Stella Jude and Aubrey Jude sound together. They fit rather nicely.
