My family has a tradition of the father's name being the oldest son's middle name - that would be Mark.  The only name dear husband and I can both agree on is Jack.  Is Jack Mark too clunky?

I agree with this. Or add a second middle, ie Jack Alexander Mark.

Other things Jack could be a nn for: (though some are a stretch. quite a few are international variations of it.)

John Mark

Jacob Mark

Jacoby Mark

James Mark

Jagger Mark

Johan Mark

Giovanni Mark

Jarvis Mark

Jeremiah Mark
