Hattie only just made it back on the baby naming charts (ranked #993) since it dropped off the charts in 1969. Last year 253 girls were named Hattie, which is only 0.01% (probably a rounded figure) of girls born last year. Since it is commonly a nickname for Harriet, I looked up those stats as well. Only 86 girls were named Harriet, 6 named Harriette & 5 named Harriett. Of course their may be some other unique spellings that I can't think of. If all went by Hattie that would give you a total of 350 girls born. Which is even with Edith & Martha and makes up only 0.02% of girls born. This means that 1 in 5,000 girls born last year are named Hattie.
To give you an idea of how fast it is rising. In 2010 there were 157 Hattie's born, 56 Harriet's, & 5 Harriett's. Less than 0.01% or less than 1 in 10,000.
I think Hattie has been getting a lot of press from Tori Spelling which makes it seem more popular than it actually is. With new star baby Hattie, I'm sure we will see it gain a little popularity, but I think you are still safe in the fact that it will be a great under used option.
