These are for a Gender-Bender Fairy Tale retelling project that I am working on, not names that I am using for actual children.  :)  Thoughts?

Gender-Bender...meaning that each main character is the opposite gender than they are in the original story.  They are all teenagers as well, despite the age of their character in their original story (except for the wicked step "mother").  Their name in the original story is to the right of the name that I picked for them in parenthesis.

Little Red Riding Hood-

Crimson Rafe (Little Red Riding Hood)

Crimson: A deep to vivid purplish red to vivid red.

Rafe: Counsel of the wolf, wise wolf- Old Norse origin, strong- Irish origin

Cinderella-

Princess Mabel (The Prince)

Mabel: My beautiful one.

Lyall Ashby (Cinderella)

Lyall: loyal; wolf

Ashby: Ash tree home

Phobus Abaddon (Wicked Step-Mother- Lady Tremaine)

Phobus: one who fears or hates; fear-similar to the word “phobia”

Abaddon: The king of the locust army in the New Testament. Translated into Hebrew: Angel of death; In Greek: The Destroyer

Oleander Abaddon (Wicked Step-Sister #1- Drizella Tremaine)

Oleander: one of the most poisonous garden plants; poisonous flower

Abaddon: The king of the locust army in the New Testament. Translated into Hebrew: Angel of death; In Greek: The Destroyer

Alastor Abaddon (Wicked Step-Sister #2- Anastasia Tremaine)

Alastor: Ancient Greek for: he who does not forget; avenger; persecutor; tormenter; one who suffers from divine vengeance

Abaddon: The king of the locust army in the New Testament. Translated into Hebrew: Angel of death; In Greek: The Destroyer

Pinocchio-

Cecilia Geppetto (Pinocchio)

Cecilia: an old Roman name with Latin origins that means Blind; also named after the Saint Cecilia who is the patron saint of musicians and music

Geppetto: The name of Pinocchio’s creator and father in the Disney film. Derived from the Hebrew name “Yehôsêph”, that means he will enlarge; God will increase; he may add- which in turn derives from “yâsaph” that means to add; increase; do again. – I like to compare this to how Geppetto makes something new, something richer, out of nothing.  He took something almost worthless and made something new, enriching, or adding, to his life.
