Which name do you prefer and why? Hunter or Hunner? Personally, with my insanely heavy mix of southern and northern accents (weird I know) the names, especially when said by those with thick southern accents, sound nearly identical as people in my area tend to blur their N's and T's together when their next to each other in a word or name. So people with the names Hunter or Hunner often get called "Hunner" even though people might actually be saying "Hunter". It never really bothered me or anyone I knew by either name until I met my brothers new friend on Halloween (He's 6, like my brother), whose name is Hunter and when I said "Hello, Hunter" it came out more like "Hello, Hunner", and he, as a Northerner, didn't quite understand that my accent made sound like Hunner even though I had said Hunter and he became a little upset and told me " No, it's Hunter!"

It was kinda cute as he has a very strong Northern accent as he and his family just moved from Rhode Island over the summer, so when he says his name it comes out similar to "Huntah" instead of "Hunter", essentially the opposite of me and my siblings accents.

I totally smell what you're stepping in with the whole southern accent thing - where I live, words, names, etc. get garbled up all the time. It's sort of funny actually...
As far as the names go, I definitely prefer Hunter. Hunner just looks like a misspelled version of Hunter, imo. I guess Hunner would be similar to Gunner, but I don't know...Hunner just doesn't have that "it" thing (yet) that Gunner seems to have right now.

I much prefer Hunter myself :) I had Hunter Zachary on my list <3

I understand where the accent comes in to play and how some words do get mixed up and such... but I think naming your kid Hunter than saying "Hunner" sometimes would be my personal preference. Though, I prefer to articulate every letter in my words, so Hunter has a very distinct T sound in it to me. There are a few words I say wrong, though normally its because I accidently add letters in there. Like half the times I say family I accidently add a B in there to sound like fambly, but I guess the B is more subtle when I say it there. But I don't change how I spell family to keep it to how I say it. Same with Closet. I add an n in there sometimes to be closent. I think thats because my friend says it that way though.

Though, normally I talk to fast so I have to really think about what I'm saying when I say it, otherwise all my words come out like wolihfoainwflan. So I have to really articulate to make up for it. Helps people understand what I'm trying to say

Looking at it, I go from Hunner to Hummer, and there are no positive associations with that. So, Hunter.

I totally understand the Hunter coming out Hunner thing. I do it continuously. Katlyn's youngest brother is Hunter and when you say his name its Hunner.
I have a cousin who's very adamant that her son's name is Hunter, emphasis on the t. So she often corrects us when we say it wrong.
