We are having a girl and are trying to pick a classic and refined name. We are loving the names Melanie, Isabelle, Giselle, and my husband really loves the name Scarlett. I would love to hear your opinions on the names listed.

Giselle is my personal favourite out of the names you listed! It's classy and elegant whilst still being unusual and easy to pronounce. Isabelle is gorgeous but too popular for me. Scarlett and Melanie just are't my style of names. Scarlett seems overrated and Melanie seems a little dated. GL!

Melanie - I feel it's dated, personally. I knew a lot of Melanie's in my classes in high school. Other similar names I do like are Amelie, Elaine, Elodie, and Lanie.

Isabelle - Very, very popular right not but it's sweet. :) While it's not my cup of tea, I do enjoy hearing it on other people's children, despite popularity. Some similar names I like are Isla, Isolde, and Arabella.

Giselle - It's alright. Definitely frilly and pretty. It makes me think of the supermodel, so definitely not an awful association haha!

Scarlett - Beautiful. Scarlett's been off and on my list before. My partner loves it too. It's currently off our list as I feel it's too close to our sons name, both having prominent "are" sounds. Plus my son's best friends name is Charlotte, so too rhymey haha. It is so beautiful, regardless!
