Mila Dinara Sokolov [7] is the older sister of Katja, and has a twin brother who has a crush on Perry. Mila just like her younger sister is very photogenic and loves playing dress up. She is fluent in russian, but has also the skill of omnilingualism (being able to speak many languages). Her family is amazed by how fast she learns languages, but only her father knows why.

Natalya Aleksandra Sokolov (nee Ivanov) (46) is the mother of Katja, Mila, a 7-year-old boy, a 9-year old girl, a 12-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, 17-year-old boy/girl twins, and a 19-year-old girl. Natalya and her husband have been on the rocks for eight years. They are only still married for the sake of their public appearances as very influential, rich society members. Katja is the daughter of a 25-year-old influential Jewish man who loves Katja much more than Natalya does and ever will, but he is not allowed to see her. Natalya wanted to prevent her husband of cheating on her during the day, so she stuck Mila with him. That didn't stop him. He took Mila to the motel he has affairs in every day. All of them (seventeen in total) were exotic, so Mila grew up around at least ten different languages and has the basis for at least twenty. Natalya is generally a cold and distant woman, almost incapable of sympathy.

Aleksei Devora Sokolov [19] is the oldest daughter of Natalya, and oldest sister of Mila, Katja, four brothers (ages: 7,12,14,17), and two sisters (ages: 9,17)/ Alekse naturally has wild curly hair like her sister Mia, but despises it so she has gotten in a habit of straightening it everyday. Aleksei is a bit distant from her family because of the relationship between her mother and father. She is the oldest and the one who has been aware of all the cheating, and affairs and mishaps in their family. She hangs out a lot with her best friend, a guy she grew up from who is from a lower class. Her parents really don't approve of her associating with a boy who goes to public school in a small town. Aleksei ignores her parents comments because he is the only one that makes her feel genuine.

Wilson Michael Lyle (19) is Aleksei's best friend. He is the older brother of a 15-year-old girl and is very protective. His parents are very distant, like Aleksei's, which is part of why they connected in the first place. They've been through heaven and hell together and are slowly starting to fall in love. Aleksei makes Wilson feel important in turn for Wilson making her feel genuine. Wilson plays football and got a full ride to college, moving into a small apartment with his sister with financial help from Aleksei, which he was very reluctant to accept.

Vera Melisande Lyle [15] is the younger sister of Wilson. Vera looks up to her older brother so much, and considers him her best friend. She's very shy and finds interacting with others hard, and so making friends is a huge challenge for her. Vera has never really understood why her parents were so distant, especially when she was little and all she wanted was to show them her good grades, which is part of the reason she's so shy now. She was excited to move to college with Wilson, and loves living in their new house. She's very creative, and has decorated their apartment beautifully with the little money they have. Vera wants to go to college and become an interior designer, and has already started looking at places that she can attend. Because of her outstanding grades and her high level of work, Vera has been moved up a grade, and is now a junior. She's excited, but worried that the other students in her year will avoid her because she's so clever. Once she's done with college Vera hopes to get married and have at least one child, who she plans to shower with love the way her parents didn't with her. She has a small crush on a boy in her year, but will never work up the courage to tell him so.

Toby Everett Keenan (16) is the guy that Vera has a crush on. Toby's been noticing her too, and, in fact, he's intrigued and impressed by her intelligence. He would ask her out if only he didn't have a nagging girlfriend who's famous for spreading rumors. Toby is so entranced by Vera that he's broken it to his girlfriend that he's not "loving the relationship." Toby is pretty smart himself, not nearly as smart as Vera though. His parents are surgeons and want him to be too, but he was born to debate and wants to be a lawyer. He runs track and plays football for the school, but he's not good enough to get a full ride to the college he wants to go to: Duke University. His parents make a lot of money, but as the baby, he always feels guilty when they buy him out of things. Toby's group of friends don't approve of his latest set of decisions and blame Vera for it, calling her a "slutty freak." Toby was surprised when he himself felt insulted upon hearing those words and has decided he's going to break it off with his girlfriend soon.

Taryn Emma-Lynn Fisher [16] is the girlfriend of Toby. She's very popular, and loves to spread rumors about less popular people. She completely adores Toby, and was heartbroken when he told her that he's not really into their relationship. Taryn hates Vera Lyle with a passion because she's everything Taryn's parents wish that she was. Taryn has been told by the school principal that her grades aren't satisfactory and that she has to do summer school to make them better, and so Taryn is envious of Vera's grades and goody-two-shoes appearance. She's been seriously acting out lately and has called Vera a lot of nasty names, mainly to hide the fact that she's upset about something. She found out two weeks ago that she's pregnant, and is really worried about what Toby will say and how her parents will react. She's only told her best friend so far, and they've been looking at options together.

Megan Roxanne Hartford [17] is Taryn Fisher's best friend, and the only other person that knows Taryn is pregnant with Toby Keenan's baby. Megan is very concerned for her friend, and is trying to be supportive of her in the difficult time. Megan has the ability to see a number of possible futures that may come to pass, and she has seen that Taryn and Toby's baby may have a huge positive impact on the world. Taryn has suggested several times that having an abortion may be the best option, and Megan is desperately trying to persuade Taryn to keep the baby.

Hannen Ashley Hartford (15) is Megan's little sister. Hannen has the ability to see situations in the past that mirror situations that could result from a particular decision or event, kind of like Megan. Hannen was her mother's maiden name and she died under suspicious circumstances two years ago. Hannen feels like she's responsible for sharing her mother's legacy with the world. Hannen fancies herself a bit of a hipster and loves trying offbeat styles. She's very confident, and people telling her she's pretty feeds her ego. She doesn't know about Toby and Taryn's baby, but she has her suspicions. Hannen loves baking. She's in a cooking class for elite junior chefs. She has many friends and enemies in the class -- its kind of like amino high school. Anyway, Hannen always makes cheesecake for Taryn, and recently she's refused it and has a sudden craving for shortbread cookies.

Dawna Rose Herr [16] (left) is best friends with Harper (right). Dawna is  one of the many enemies Hannen has in her junior elite chef class. Dawna sees Hannen as a threat because she is younger than the rest of them and bears such great talent. Dawna has a zesty personality and is very competitive, especially from growing up as the younger child in a family full of successes and high expectations set by her older siblings. Dawna has spoiled Hannen's chances at times but knows she cannot be doing such things for too long. Dawna has an advantage because she can read minds and always seems to know exactly what the teachers want. only harper knows of this power. 

 

Harper Fayette Colliens [15] (right) Harper is an only child and lives with her grandparents. Her parents died in a car accident when she was nine. Harper is very flamboyant child and lis very optimistic. She gets good grades and even though she is not in the chef class she loves to bake. Especially treats. She has made multiple cakes for family weddings and get together.But people wonder how she does all this, because she was born blind and only reads braille.

Rosanne Henley Coltrin (16) is in Harper, Dawna, and Hannen's elite junior chef class. In fact, her father runs the class as a sort of philanthropic project, the kind and wonderful guy that he is. Rosanne herself is a conceited, unhappy, manipulative girl. She was used to being a culinary star, her dad's favorite student and the leader of Coltrin Culinary Academy. Then, Hannen came along. Rosanne hates all of her competitors, especially Hannen. She's insecure and competitive and is always looking for ways to be better than everyone else. Rosanne is so competitive that she only has one true friend. She also has a dog named Murray.

Rodrick Hayes Coltrin  [23] is the older brother of Rosanne. He does not gewt along well with his sister and hates how conceited she is. He avoids family gatherings and would much rather hang out with 'real' people who are not self centered rich snobs. He has peaked interest in a girl who just moved in down the block. They met when they accidentally bumped into each other at the park while he was walking his do, Murray. She seemed nice and he only hopes she isn't like the rest of the wealthy society. Rorick has finished with college, and just came back from the police academy.

Julie Cassandra Markel (23) is the girl Rodrick met in the park. Her family is powerful and wealthy, but seeing how it has changed her family into cold people who always talk about "the greater good." Julie has been talking to Rodrick about the police academy and loves the idea of servicing the people of her country by catching killers. Her goal is to be an FBI agent that studies the behavior of killers and develops profiles as she loves psychology. Julie is really fascinated with Rodrick and relieved that he doesn't agree with their lifestyle either. She has applied for the academy and is an excellent candidate. She runs and is in excellent shape, plus her abilities to identify psychological markers is astounding. One FBI agent has gotten her hands on the application and is considering training her at the FBI Headquarters.

Kyan Jamison Turner [28] is the FBI recruiter that first discovered Julie. He anonymously admitted her information to the academy and she became a well known candidate in the force.He is fascinated by her intelligence and has asked her out to lunch once but knows that he has to keep work and his life out of it.  Kyan has been in the fbi for five years now and his case is similar to that of Julie, except that he got in with help of his uncle who recently passed away. Kyan grew up with his uncle and aunt in montana, a farmer. secretly, he has always been curious about what happened to his parents and why his uncle never spoke about them. His interest landed him a spot on the fbi.

Helen Isabel Pruitt (29) is Kyan Turner's team member. Helen is the unofficial leader of the group, as she is never wrong and is so close to the team members that she feels responsible for them in the field. She often takes bullets for people. She has noticed that Kyan has taken quite an interest in Julie and is intrigued by her as well. Helen's family was victimized by a twisted serial killer that set up a dinner scene and stabbed her sister, brother, mother and father to death while she was away on a trip with her best friends. She was 16. The killer was caught by Helen's team (a very, very emotional time for her) last year. A fellow team member helped her through it, and they started sleeping together. They have kept their relationship a secret and Helen is very scared someone might find out.

David Nathaniel Glenn [30] is the member of Helen's FBI team. David has the supernatural ability to sense the emotions of others, and to respond to people in a way that will make them feel better. These powers make David invaluable when dealing with witnesses and victims of crime. He is often able to talk to people who won't talk to anyone else. David helped Helen immensely when the team caught her family's killer last year, and David and Helen have recently started sleeping together. David wishes that he and Helen could officially become a couple, but he understands her fear of getting close to anyone, and he is trying to help her work through it.

Peter Zachariah Glenn [19] is the youngest sibling and brother of David. Peter has an older sister and brother, but David is the oldest. Peter admires David for his job and what he does and is excited to start at the academy himself. Peter is well known at school for being the basketball team captain, but he was never exactly popular. He never really fit in despite his title. He like his brother has a power as well. He has the  the ability to perceive the history of an object or person by touching it. He has learned many things of his friends and has become more understanding of people. He is in a serious relationship right now and has known his girl since elementary school.

Naomi Margaret Sawyer (legally Glenn) (28) is the younger sister of David, older sister of Peter and another brother aged 24. Above is a self portrait of Naomi that she drew a few months ago. When Naomi was fifteen, she had a falling out with her parents. Naomi's supernatural talent allows her to draw things and have them come to life at her will. All of her brothers have "important" powers, ones that can be used for good in the everyday world. Naomi's parents pressured her to be like her brothers and thought that, surely, a Glenn child would have a more "important" power. One day, Naomi just couldn't take it anymore. Her photographic memory made school a breeze, so the extremely intelligent fifteen-year-old Naomi lied about her age and changed her last name to Sawyer (her old pet fish's name) and got a full scholarship to college (she took a test to officially graduate high school and passed with flying colors). Naomi applied to the police academy after getting a bachelor's in forensic psychology. She remembered eighteen-year-old David being interested in the subject and decided to pursue it herself. Naomi was thrilled when she landed a position on an elite FBI team. Then, she saw David. He didn't recognize her, and for that Naomi thanks her lucky stars and awkward teenage years. She only recognized him after he said his name. Naomi is afraid that David will find out who she really is and try to make amends or something. She wants nothing to do with her family, and working with David stresses her out. Especially because she is the only woman on the team who goes undercover (Helen used to, but she wasn't good at it, and the whole thing with her family's killer has made her even more unpredictable in those circumstances). Naomi dabbled in acting as a teen, so playing these characters is easy and fun. David usually goes undercover with her when a couple is needed, which is awkward for her, though recently David has passed that duty on to another member of the team. Once, Naomi and the other team member were undercover as a couple from New York. One target wasn't buying it, so he pulled Naomi in for a long, romantic kiss. Naomi really enjoyed it, even though she loathed him at first. She doesn't know if he feels the same way, but is dying to go undercover again.

Jeffrey "Jeff" Elijah Glenn [24] is the younger brother of Naomi and David, and older brother of Peter. He is engaged to the girl of his dreams. They are high school sweethearts and right after they graduate from college they will tie the knot. Jeff's fiancee's older brother is the same guy who kissed Naomi in an undercover operation and that guy hates Jeff. Ever since Started dating his fiancee in high school her older brother has been sending threats and has never been happy with their arrangement for some unknown reason to them. Jeff unlike the rest of his family is a counselor and psychologist for families and drug addicts. He enjoys his job very much.

Temperance "Perry" Emma Shaw (7) is Kevin's daughter and Iris's older sister. Perry is Kevin's first kid and shares a room with Iris. At first, Perry hated having to share a room with her sister, but she has gotten used to it, mostly because Iris looks up to her so much that she'll do anything Perry says. Perry is the spitting image of her mother and takes after her, too -- she isn't good at emotions and doesn't have many friends, but her beauty, intelligence, and artistic talent get her by in the social world.  Perry loves painting. Her favorite thing to do is paint heavily textured plants and natural scenes on wood boards. Perry is also good at music because she can see colors. Every letter, sound, word, and smell has a color for her. Her name is dark green, which she hates, but Perry is a pretty turquoise which she likes. Iris's name is yellow. Perry's mother also has the condition.

 

 

Synesthesia! I read a book about that. I didn't know it was a real thing until i read the notes at the end of the book, though.
