Ack! Translator! That sounds like it would be a fun job, although incredibly difficult. I barely grasp sign language and I took two years of it. Lol.
It must be nice though, knowing all sorts of different names and meanings. I bet you hear peoples' names sometimes and think of them more as words than names.

  • Interests:I LOVE reading. I'm into almost every genre and generally read a book a week, if possible. I like Iris Johansen, Karen Marie Moning, Stephen King, James Patterson, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Diana Gabaldon, Kathy Reichs, and Robert Burns (every Scot's favorite author). I really love music and even got accepted to the Mason Gross School of Performing Arts at Rutgers University (my alma mater) for vocal performance. Unfortunately performance life was not for me, so I went into English Lit and French instead. Music is still a big part of my life, and I like a multitude of musical genres from Reggae to Rock to Opera. I've seen Carmen and La bohème each twice. (And I cry every time.) My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for The Beatles.

It's pretty cool. Most companies send me documents an I transcribe them in another language. I really like the fact that I don't have to work in an office. I make my own hours and can basically take vacations when I want. I can even "go to work" in my PJs, if I want to. A couple times a week I watch my nephew (mostly when my brother-in-law is on a day shift - he's a cop). I figure it'll also be good when I have my own kids since I'll be home.

Yes! Same with me! School from home means lots of waking up at noon and staying in my pajamas all day. :] It's a nice change for a while..then it gets a bit stagnant. But I'll take not waking up at seven over excitement. Lol.
It's good that you get to watch your nephew. Good practice for being a parent. Lots of people go into it knowing nothing, but you'll be at the top of your game! If and when I have kids, not for a long while hopefully, I won't be starting at nothing. I'll have some knowledge. And knowledge is a good thing!

Oh, yeah. Tell me about it. Jayden is handful, and I'm generally very happy when his mom or my mother shows up, and I can leave. Unfortunately people can't do that with their own kids. But at least I know what to expect and my mom and mother-in-law both live within a half hour of us, so I have a great support system all set in place.

I know the feeling. Kids know exactly how to frazzle that last nerve. But I suppose it's different when their yours. And you know you forgive them the minute they do something cute!

How about Ruby Rose? It's the only one I can come up with (but I'm sure what with all the Rubys and the 'Rose-as-a-middle-name-trend' there must be a few ones out there...).

  • Interests:More than anything else in the world I love being with my family, which includes my amazing husband and our three gorgeous daughters. We are currently expecting number four, and are so excited! I am of course a mother first, but I am a writer second. I am a nut about names and etymology in general. I love reading; I’m a sucker for both the more modern fantasy books, like Harry Potter, and the also classics, like Shakespeare. Music is another thing that I could’ve live without, and I have to say my tastes definitely lean towards modern rock: Nickelback, Hinder, Papa Roach, and Theory of a Deadman are my very favorites. Not too big on television, but I couldn’t live without Lost. I also love cars (and driving them!), and I am the proud “mommy” of a Ford Mustang. I’m also pretty big on talking and I like to see myself as friendly, so I hope to see you around the boards!

These are great, guys! Definitely put a smile on my face.

My mom's maiden name was Knight, and she used to tease that if she had kept her name and had a son she could have named him Ryder -- for the show Knight Rider, of course
