I picked Harper late summer for my daughters name. At the time it was 19 on the 2014 list. Now it's already 11 on the 2015 list. I really didn't want such a common name. I am bummed because I began to picture her as Harper.

Yes Harper was ranked #11 in 2014, but I like to look at the actual % of babies born with that name to get a better idea of the popularity.

In 2014, 0.493% of all female babies were named Harper.  That means about 1 in every 200 girls born are named Harper.  When you think about the number of kids that are going to go though school with your daughter.  I feel like a class of 500 (for a medium sized school) is a good number, and then only half of those would be girls, so you could expect in a class of 500, only 1 or 2 Harper's.

To me, it would be a name where she might run into a few girls about her age thoughout her life, but it isn't going to be like the Jennifers or Ashleys of years past.

I completely agree with Katie Nana's research and math calculations. :)
I personally haven't heard it much around where I am... don't even think I have met a Harper, and I work with kids! I too love the name and might have a daughter named that one day too <3

It is becoming extremely common where I'm from (Southern USA). I have eliminated this name because it's so popular  :(
