Carrie François and David Isaacson met in Paris. Carrie was 22 and David was 24. They met because David, who was in Paris with little knowledge of the language or culture, stopped at a small café to order lunch…in English. Carrie, whose father was French, stepped in from behind and ordered his sandwich in French. Both single and alone in Paris, just looking to get away from the world, they sat next to each other and talked on well after they finished their lunches. They spent the rest of the trip together and found out they both lived in Atlanta, Georgia! They set up a date and soon fell even more in love with each other.
After two years of dating, David proposed! Carrie was thrilled and said yes. Seeing as they were both very young and Carrie was a very good police officer, they didn’t want to get pregnant just yet. Instead, they decided to take in a foster child, barely 1-year-old girl Regina Sydney “Rena” Lachlan. Both Carrie and David loved having Rena around the house. Aside from the huge amount of work it took to take care of a child, Rena made both of their lives so much happier.
Only seven months into caring for Rena, and two months after officially adopting her, Carrie discovered that she was pregnant! Both David and Carrie were ecstatic! They ran around frantically for nine months getting everything ready for their new arrival. Originally, they decided not to find out the sex, but they just couldn’t wait any longer. Plus, Regina kept asking if she was getting a sister or a “boy-sister.” They went back in and found out that they were having a boy. Both Carrie’s and David’s fathers are very important people in their lives, so when their precious baby boy arrived, they named him after their fathers, Jean-Luc and Russell—John Russell Isaacson. They nicknamed him Russ, like David’s dad.
After only a year or so back on the job, Carrie fell pregnant again! This time, they promised to keep their baby’s gender a secret. Surprise—a baby boy! They named him Christopher Jack Isaacson. He was born in the middle of a "very important" football game, so David nicknamed him Tucker.
Three kids was a handful, but the amount of work it took to take care of them had greatly reduced by the time Christopher was 3, Russ was 5, and Rena was 7. Then, one of David’s fellow car salesmen’s wife had a baby girl, and after seeing the baby a few times, Carrie and David got baby fever! They tried for a few months, and then they got pregnant with a baby girl! They moved a crib into Rena’s room and prepared for their baby. David’s sister Lisa also worked as a police detective, so she took on some extra work while Carrie prepared for the baby. In honor of her, Carrie and David named their beautiful baby Elisa Willow Isaacson. 4-year-old Christopher couldn’t pronounce Elisa, so he called her Liesy. The nickname stuck!
The Isaacson household was very large by that time, larger than their actual house, so they decided to move to the suburbs. With help from Carrie’s wealthy brother-in-law Mitch and sister Grace, they purchased a gorgeous home in which each child had their own room.
Two years later, their neighbors, Casey and Fred Holden, were killed in a car accident, orphaning their adorable 1-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. Christopher and Russ wanted another boy in the house, and Casey and Fred had no extended family, so the Isaacsons took them in. Everyone adored their names: Sabrina Danielle and Jeremy Winston. Rena took the liberty of nicknaming them Bree and Remy.
After three and a half more years of working, Carrie and David found themselves expecting a tiny accident! Carrie was very nervous because when the baby was to be born, Carrie would be 38! Carrie finally retired to take care of the kids rather than a nanny doing it and David was appointed the president of his company, making well over the amount needed to support their big family. Baby Anna Shelby “Annie” Isaacson joined their family and Carrie finally felt like her family was complete. There were absolutely no complications, which was a huge relief.
The happy family resides in their suburban house today, happy as ever.
