Aisling (too many pronounciation/spelling issues?)

Annelies (all I can see is anne lies.)

Arabella

Arcadia

Calypso

Camilla

Isa (EE-sah) (this one's new but I'm kind of loving it. It possibly gets me out of using Elizabeth)

Riona (like Fiona with an r)

What do you all think? I've got a few issues with a couple but I like most of them. Isa is really jumping out at me at the moment.

i like them all but Annelies kind of rubs me the wrong way. I don't know, i don't like the feel of it. Maybe Annalies or Annalise?

I like all of them except the spelling of Annelies. Anneliese is beautiful. Also, I have connotations with Arcadia that make it seem really "redneck", but I still think it is a nice name.

I like Aisling and Arcadia. I agree that Aisling has a lot of pronunciations, but they're all really pretty.

I adore Arabella!!  How about Acacia?  All I can see in Arcadia is arcade.  I would prefer the spelling Annalise or Anneliese, I think they are very pretty.  I would prefer Isla (pronounced eye-luh) over Isa.  Isa just doesn't seem like enough of a name, more like a nickname.  I think the spelling Aisling is kinda weird because -ling is usually used for something that is small or a baby  --  duckLING = baby duck.  I think Calypso sounds clumsy, I'm not really sure why, lol, but it's definitely not my style.  How are you pronouncing Camilla?  It's not my style, but it's a nice name.  I don't like Riona, I have a niece named Rihanna and I don't like that either...  Just not my style.  :)

I'm pronouncing Camilla like Cuh-mill-ah.
I like the love Arabella is getting. I know people think it's frilly or too princessy but my first introduction to the name was a pritate in a book so to me it says BA. I can't stand Bella though and I run into the same "B" heavy sound when paired with Baker that Blaire has which is a drawback.
How would you all pronounce Aisling?

I love Aisling, so beautiful. I love Irish names in general though. I pronounce Aisling like Ashlyn.

Annelies is pretty, though I prefer Annaliese <3 Are you saying Annelies like ann-leese? Or like Anna-leese? An alternate spelling is Annalise as well. I love it.

Arabella is beautiful.

Arcadia I don't care for. Kinda sounds like Arcade and Acadia mixed together haha. I live near Acadia park so idk.

Calypso is really cool, idk if I'd use it irl but its beautiful.

Camilla is beautiful, I like

Isa is nice! I love the name Isis lately, and Isa is kinda similar. (Isis EYE-sis, kinda like saying "Hi Sis!" without the H lol).

Riona is alright.. I don't love it. I do prefer Fiona :)

Annelies is Anna-lees. I like the look of Anneliese better but the time I spent in German class causes me to pronounce that last 'e' and it changes to Anna-lees-ah which I don't care for as much.
Ive seen people say Ashlyn and Ayes-ling for Aisling. I sa it as Ashlyn.

I say Ashlyn for Aisling. Ayes-ling is usually only people unfamiliar with Gaelic names. At least in my experience. :)

Mm, the original is like Ashlyn. Have you ever seen The Book of Kells? Its on Netflix, an adorable cartoon movie with lots of Irish/ Gaelic stuff going on and a character is Aisling :)

I can see how that could bother you. Though idk, I think Annelies would be misspelled a lot :( hmm

Yeah. I have no idea.
I'm really liking Arabella again. Do you think it would be shortened to Bella a lot?

Arabella is beautiful! I think that if you decide on a nickname besides Bella, like Arie/Ari or Ara, she'd probably not get it shortened to Bella, but if she didn't already have a nickname, I think Bella would be the go-to. Does that make sense?

It makes sense. I know that my grandparents both automatically shorten names as do Martin's parents. I'm hoping Ari would stick better than Bella.

I like Ari much better than Bella as well :)

Okay. Before, when I read Isa, it sounded vaguely familiar and I just couldn't put my finger on where I'd heard it. I just remembered: it's the Muslim name for Jesus. I don't think it would be a problem unless you live somewhere with a muslim population or you travel.

I don't currently live there but I don't know where I'll end up so I might have to wait and see on Isa.
I know Martin likes Arya "Ari" so maybe I can get him to like Arabella "Ari".
