Reading through fb pages, I came across a list of the strangest baby names people have ever seen

I came across the name Jru in a local paper. I assume it is pron. like Drew.


I do not think Colt or Scout should be on this list. My little cousin actually has a Wolfgang in her class. I believe his mother is German. She says he goes by Wolfie

I definitely agree with Katie; Colt and Scout are not as "strange" as the others on the list. Colt is on my boys list and Scout is really cute for a little girl, in my opinion! But Simba...that's a little odd. I had a dog and a cat named Simba when I was younger and of course, Lion King.

Annnd, at least Wolfgang is an actual name (maybe not as common in the U.S.) but still, a very common name in Germany!

I've seen Oak before. Its not really as weird as some of the others since people name girls Juniper, Willow, and Summer and other nature names (Though those are more common and nature names generally sound better on girls anyway) but Huckleberry is a little to much along with Taipan, Boa, Amazon and Spider.

I've seen Akira, its a Japanese name meaning Bright or Intelligent.

Wolfgang is a real name and I have seen Fox as well as Foxander (Fox-Zander)

I've seen Talon on a boy, which is a little better than Claw I guess.

Some like Creed, Dragon, Prince, Scout, Cove and Colt are more like words to me, not names.

Baker is more like a word or a surname and Simba just brings up pets and the movie Lion King.

Emjay just sounds like the initials M.J which makes me think of Michael Jackson.

The others all sound made up or possibly foreign in some cases.

I have seen some names that just stun me. They just seem so over the top:

There was a couple that named their son Dovahkiin (Doh-Vah-Keen) after the Xbox Game Skyrim was released.

I've also seen a girl named Brimberly (like Kimberly with a Br- sound instead of K- sound)

Jason Lee named his son Pilot Inspektor while Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter Apple.

In fact my uncles name is Breeze and my other uncle is Blue.

Santana is the only one I could see myself using. Of course, Glee has warmed me up to this name.

Oddest name ever: Hunter Trapper Fisher, his parents are big outdoor enthusists.
Other odd ones are: J'urny (Journey), Denim and Dodger.

I think the worst names I've ever seen are: Cougar (girl), Angel (boy!), and Wizdom (boy!).

Wizdom is pretty bad. Angel isn't that uncommon on a child of Latino descent. It's pronounced different. But yeah, Wizdom, why?
Scrolling through the SSA list for the year I was born there were a surprising amount of boys called Baby and Male. My uncle knows a woman with a girl named Female (Fuh-mal-uh).

I actually know Santana and she's pretty cool. But all the other names are a bit too out there for me

I agree that Colt, Oak, Scout, Santana and Wolfgang shouldn't be on there... I'm not a fan of any of them though.

The rest are pretty bad IMHO, but I suppose it's to each his own.

I know people with interesting names, but most are just due to cultural differences.

Awkward spelling however? The worst I know of is a Danniyelle. [God knows if I've even spelled that right!]

I know a Santana and a Scout and I like both names. Colt is kind of nice fora boy.
But these are the only ones I would use!

I'm confused. Does "Santana" on GLEE go by her last name or is Santana her first name? I always thought they called her by her last name. Like Carlos Santana.

Gotcha. Santana just seems like a surname to me. I can't see it being used as a given name.

I used to work in a community clinic. I think Chairailya was the strangest -- chair + rail + ya. Now I live on an island in the caribbean and the trend here is to make up the baby's name or use an apostrophe.... like J'Lil (boy name), J'mari (another boy name), K'la (kayla, can you believe it?)

I've posted this name before but I went to CNA class with a girl name Roymeshia.
And my friends middle name is Willamina. Not sure how to spell it. I remember she told me her parents couldn't think of a middle name for her so they took half her dad & half her mom's names and mushed them together.

Another friend's sister just had a baby and she named her Lanajia.
