In my husband's family the first son is given the mother's maiden name as a middle which worked out great in past generations (Benson, Boyd, etc) but my maiden name is Wilkins! It doesn't fit well with the last name Matthews. Help!

What about Wilkie or Wilkin without the "s"

Good luck, hope I helped!

Wilson & William are good alternatives. Closer derivatives of Wilkins in the middle spot make me think of John Wilkes Booth, and that's not a connotation you want.

I automatically think Wilke (Will-key...like the guy from Switched at Birth  assuming anyone else watches that show)

I really like the above poster's suggestion to just drop the s. _____ Wilkin Matthews sounds unique and still honours tradition.

Wilkin can work nicely I think. I like that idea!
