So, do y'all find that certain characters (in books, movies, tv, songs, etc.) influence your name lists at all? If so do those names tend to stay in your GP list... or make it to the real one? What about the opposite effect, characters that make you question names you like?

Personally, I'm guilty of all of the above, lol.

Names that made it to the list:
Annika (Pippi Longstocking)
Diana (Anne of Green Gables)
Fiona (The Isle of Roan Inish)
Jemima (Chitty Bang Bang)
Luna (Harry Potter)
Violet (The Incredibles)
-
Emmett (Keeping Up Appearances)
Judd (a sci-fi book)
Morgan (Howl's Moving Castle)
Soren (Guardians of Ga'hoole)

GP Character names:
Isannah (Johnny Tremaine)
Marlee (a sci-fi book I read)
Sabine (Mr. Bean goes on Holiday -_-)
-
Barnabas (The Dark is Rising Series)
Prosper (The Thief Lord)
Robin (Winnie the Pooh)
Tarquin (Enchanted Glass)

Names that I Question because of Characters:
Aubrey (Aubrey, by Bread)
Deliliah (Hey there Delilah -_-)

Etienne is forever on my GP list and I'll probably use it on my first dog when I have my own place. It is the name of a character from the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands. He's an adorable nerd and just funny as can be.

My son's name, Magnus James, was greatly influenced by Marvel Comics

Magneto and Wolverine are my two favorite characters from the X-Men and Magneto's real name is Erik Magnus Lehnsherr and Wolverine's real name is James "Logan" Howlett. It just happens to be a coincidence that James is also a family name so it works both way. Because of this, my best friend Becka calls my son Magneto (She also has a friend who just happened to name her son Xavier, who Becka calls Prof. X from the character, Charles Xavier, in the X-Men comics.)

So do you think it influences my name list? ;) :P

Lol, I'm seeing names on all of your lists that are on mine from time to time. My lists change a lot -_-

Puppylover - the Argeneau's are a GP read of mine, lol. I loved Etienne... I love the way it looks too. I can't really figure out how it's pronounced though, lol.

BNR - I like Magnus as well... but my introduction to it came from Matilda, not X-men :)

Violet - Wade was on my list as well after I read Gone With the Wind.

SuttonReese - I love Annabeth (character and name, lol.) I can't believe I forgot that one -_-

Is it? I adore it! A-tea-n is how it's pronouced. I met the author and she explained some names to me. I actually own quite a lot of signed copy of booksfrom her.

Puppylover - Oh my goodness, you lucky person you O_O I love a tech nerd hero, and Etienne was certainly one of those. I must say though, that Lucern's book is still my favorite. Some of those funny scenes were just awesome.

Sierra - Lol, I actually like Persephone because it can be shortened to Persie... which is my way of getting Percy into my lists :)

I've definitely added character names to my list! Or taken off hehe. I mean normally they do end up as GP's, as some I couldn't see myself using. But some names off the top of my head that I've added because of books...

Phoebe (The Catcher in the Rye  )
Alaska and Miles (both characters in Looking For Alaska)
Colin (An Abundance of Katherines)
Marley (Marley and Me, though it made me question it slightly hehe)
Gemma (Stolen)
Lyra (The Golden Compass)
Eden (Tricks)

I can't remember them all.. but these are all names I've read in books then considered afterwords <3

Remy, I feel very dumb not knowing one of my favorite girl names was in Catcher in the Rye. I really need to read that already, lol. The Charmed character made me question Phoebe as a name, so it'd be nice to have a positive character association :)
