What are some names you really hate?
Me (Warning: really long list!) :
Nevaeh/Heaven - I hate this stupid trend of spelling words backwards. I have no idea how the heck Nevaeh even got so popular. Heaven isn't much better, but it's slightly less horrible than Nevaeh.
Harper (for girls) - Hate how quickly it rose and it isn't the least bit feminine. Slightly better for a boy.
Harlow - One letter off from harlot.
Charlotte - Rhymes with harlot and I really dislike the nickname Charlie for little girls.
Piper
Willow
Tatum/Tate - Reminds me of tater tots.
Lola/Lula - Feels stripper-ish IMO.
Destiny, Trinity, Chastity, Bambi and other stripper names
Bailey - Reminds me of liquor
Mercedes, Bentley, etc.. - Why are people naming their kids after cars?
Poppy - One letter off from poopy.
Sloane - I hate the sound of it.
Greer - Rhymes with rear, as in butt. Gross sound.
Yasmin - Birth control
Addison/Madison - Addison reminds me of the disease and Addison and Madison aren't feminine. Not a fan of -son names for girls.
Taylor/Tyler (for girls) - Okay for a boy, but not my style.
Kre8tively spelled names like KVIIItlyn - Caitlin is fine, but not crazy about the other variations of it. KVIIItlyn is going way too far.
Aiden/Jayden/Brayden/Caden/Hayden/Zayden, etc...
Mc and Mac names
Makayla, McKayla - Michaela is beautiful, why misspell it?
Kinsley/Tinsley/Tenley/Henley/Kenley
Anything with the -lynn or -leigh ending.
Surnames as first names
Boys names for girls
Place names like London, Paris, Brooklyn, Bronx, Trenton, Camden, etc... I like Geneva and Aurora, but probably wouldn't use them.
Marie, Lynn, Grace, Faith, Jo, or Paige as middle names - Boring! I don't even like them as first names, especially Grace and Paige.
Mason
Maddox
Knox - I don't get the popularity of this one.
Shiloh - It's a dog's name.
Milo - Cat's name in Milo and Otis and the main character in The Oblongs cartoon.
Analise/Analyse - If the first four letters spell out anal, not a good idea. I love Anneliese/Annalise though.
Jude/Judah/Judas
Aubrey (for a girl) - It's masculine to me.
Hunter - Don't like it for either gender, but slightly better for a boy.
Jackson
Wyatt
Isabella/Elizabella - I like Isabelle, but Isabella is so overused and trendy and Elizabella is too much. It sounds like a mush of Elizabeth (which is pretty) and Isabella.
Arabella
Tristan
Sky/Skye/Skylar/Skyler
Chloe/Khloe
Elle/Ella/Ellie
Brynn/Brinley
Finn/Finley or any variation.
Everly/Everleigh/Ever
Emerson/Emersyn
Paisley
Hazel
Kennedy
Honor
Brielle - Don't get the appeal of this one. I love Gabrielle, but dislike every nickname for it so far.
Parker
Fallon
Waverly
Reagan/Teagan (or any spelling of those)
Ava - Eva is okay, but I dislike Ava.
Wacky names like Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii, Bandit, Moxie CrimeFighter, Blue/Bleu, Bear, Rocket, Marijuana Pepsi (why the drug and food names?!), Audio Science, Saint, North, Apple, Urhines Kendall Icy Eight Special K, Hashtag, etc... - There really needs to be a law against this in the US. It's child abuse!
Y's in place of vowels
Names with unnecessary letters
Title names like Messiah, King/Queen/Prince/Princess, Knight, Major, Lord, Bishop, Priest, etc...
Unique - Hate to break it to you, people, but that's not such a "unique" name anymore.
Nicknames instead of a formal name - I generally prefer a formal name on the birth certificate in case the kid doesn't like nicknames and for professional reasons.
Brand names
Scout
Tallulah
Briar
Daisy/Maisie
Most word names
Renesmee - Someone's been watching too much Twilight.
Esme - Dislike the sound of this name when I try to say it.
Katniss - Sorry, but I just can't picture a human with this name, despite the Hunger Games character.
Olive - I love Olivia, but Olive is just ugly.
Old people names for children - I like traditional and some old-fashioned names, but I can't picture little ones named Harold or Prudence.
Delilah
Preston/Prescott
Hudson
Ann without the -e - I love Anne, but Ann feels incomplete and not as pretty.
Fay/Faye - Knew a Fay back in 7th/8th grade and she was a bully towards me.
Bryce/Bryson
Logan
Brogan
Owen
Paxton/Braxton
Cash/Nash/Dash/Dax
Grayson/Greyson/Gray/Grey
Amanda - My real first name and even if it wasn't, I don't get the appeal of it. Plus, I knew a ton of them when I was growing up and none of them were nice so I think that totally ruined the name.
Payton/Peyton (for either gender) - only slightly tolerable for a boy.
Anything that's obviously made up.
