We’re having our first son and can’t decide how to name him. We know we want to call him Cas, but we have a couple different options of doing this.
The first is with the initials as our last name is Slaughter. We narrowed it down to Cailan (pronounced Kay-len) Allen Slaughter.
The second is with the name actually starting with Cas. Casper was our favorite name starting with Cas. So Casper Rhys Jean Slaughter.
My name is Rhys, and my wife’s name is Jean. Allen is my wife’s maiden name.
We both like Cailan (pronounced Kay-len), but we also wanted to name our son after ourselves.
Not a lot of our friends like the Rhys Jean combo for the middle name(s) though.
We’re open to suggestions on the middle names for Casper if anyone has any.

My wife decided to suddenly hate the name Cailan anyway, so it looks like Casper is the way to go; although she is stuck on the name Conner now as well. Haha.
We both like Casper Allen Rhys Slaughter much better than Casper Rhys Jean Slaughter, thank you for that suggestion.

and
Conner Allen Slaughter

I'm definitely voting for Casper, I just have to get my wife unstuck from Conner.

I feel like Connor Slaughter is a bit too rhymy. Not only do they both end in the -ER sound but CON and SLAUGH have the same AUH sound in the first syllable.

Agreed. Connor is out, it's way to rhymy.
But now she wants to add Randall to it. Quick question, not meant to offend anyone, but do women always change their minds this much on baby names?

and Casper Randall Rhys Slaughter

Allen is her maiden name, Jean is her name, Randall is her fathers name. Rhys is my name.

It'd say hormones. Plus you want to make sure you give your child the best name you can think of. I prefer Allen to Randall since her dad would be included in the Allen honoring.

Yes we all term into a spaz when it is time to name the kids. Some like your wife, and some because they picked out all of their names by the time they were 10.

For now it seems like we're going to choose Casper Allen Rhys Slaughter. I'm hoping it'll stick, but she can't make up her mind.

Just as a side note, my brother suggested the name Chasen. As in Chasen Slaughter. He has a very morbid sense of humor, but then again my father tried to name him Mann. As in Mann Slaughter. Just thought that was funny

I think Casper Rhys Jean is a great name. If you don't want him to have two middle names you could "mix" them and call him Casper Rhean Slaughter or Casper Rhyn (Reen) Slaughter

Interesting suggestion, mixing the names; but the r's in Casper and Rhyn run together too much. I think it needs the Allen to prevent that problem.
