  • Interests:I LOVE reading. I'm into almost every genre and generally read a book a week, if possible. I like Iris Johansen, Karen Marie Moning, Stephen King, James Patterson, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Diana Gabaldon, Kathy Reichs, and Robert Burns (every Scot's favorite author). I really love music and even got accepted to the Mason Gross School of Performing Arts at Rutgers University (my alma mater) for vocal performance. Unfortunately performance life was not for me, so I went into English Lit and French instead. Music is still a big part of my life, and I like a multitude of musical genres from Reggae to Rock to Opera. I've seen Carmen and La bohème each twice. (And I cry every time.) My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for The Beatles.

LeAnne inspired me to post this, so thanks!
What are your favorite TV Show character names? I'm a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy and I love Derek on a boy. Preston is popular too, but not my favorite. Meredith, Addison, Isobel, & Olivia are some of my favorite girl names from the series. Unfortunately, I would probably only use Meredith since the other 3 are so popular.

Hmm. I watch a show called Skins from the UK on the internet (shh..it's perfectly legal) and there's a character named Sidney nn Sid and I'm really starting to like that name. House has got me onto the name Chase which I never liked before. That's really all I watch besides reality TV, and names from reality are just no fun! EXCEPT. This kid who got kicked off American Idol before they got to the top 24, Josiah Leming (the kid that cried all the time), has really got me digging the name Josiah. Ahaha. Mostly because I associate it with him being the amazing artist he is (yes, I'm still following his career even after Idol; definitely a fan!).

I've only seen it a time or two. I watch the EastEnders still. Don't ask me why, I really can't explain what draws me to it. Though I am ticked off we don't get it on BBC America :D  (I was really looking forward to it when Brian upgraded our cable package)

I have no idea what EastEnders is. I only watch Skins because I have a couple of friends in Wales and they're always on about it. So I figured I'd check it out and I loved it. :] What is EastEnders? Maybe I'll have to look into that as well. So far I think the Brits have us one uped in the entertainment department (and the naming department, for that matter).

It's 11:30 here and as I woke up around 5:30 this morning, I'm pretty exhausted, so I think I'm going to head off for the night. But I'll check on the forums tomorrow! G'night. :]

Lorelai is pretty. And even though it was a popular TV Show, I don't know anyone with that name (though my step-brother is Roderick and goes by Rory).

I like Isobel and George from Grey's Anatomy. And I find myself like Gregory more and more, though Hugh Laurie is to blame for that

EastEnders is just a soap opera, it's been on for decades (literally) and it's about events of everyday life. Just your average soap opera in my opinion. Haven't watched it in ages but don't feel the urge to.

We used to be huge "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fans - so I love the names Xander, Anya, and Glory.

It's a nice 'replacement' for the overused Alex.

I like the names Chase and Cameron from House

I like the name Callum from the Tudors (it's the name of an actor from season one though, not a character) (PS Jeremy Northam is HOTTTTT) Also Rhys is the middle name of the actor that plays King Henry the eighth. Good show even though it's factually not really close....

I don't know if it's why but I've seen a lot of Sawyer's on the polls lately...and I wonder if it's because of Sawyer on Lost?

I actually like Elliot, but I like it because of Elliot from Scrubs. It's an awesome name for a girl...I hadn't heard it on boys before I watched Scrubs, so I always thought of it as more of a girls name, in my mind.

  • Interests:More than anything else in the world I love being with my family, which includes my amazing husband and our three gorgeous daughters. We are currently expecting number four, and are so excited! I am of course a mother first, but I am a writer second. I am a nut about names and etymology in general. I love reading; I’m a sucker for both the more modern fantasy books, like Harry Potter, and the also classics, like Shakespeare. Music is another thing that I could’ve live without, and I have to say my tastes definitely lean towards modern rock: Nickelback, Hinder, Papa Roach, and Theory of a Deadman are my very favorites. Not too big on television, but I couldn’t live without Lost. I also love cars (and driving them!), and I am the proud “mommy” of a Ford Mustang. I’m also pretty big on talking and I like to see myself as friendly, so I hope to see you around the boards!

Ohh, TV show names, I absolutely love them! I don’t actually watch that much TV but I’m a complete slave to my two favorite shows (Lost and Jericho) and just about all of my animals have names inspired by them. Favorites…

From Lost, I am completely in love with the name Sawyer on a boy. Juliet is another one of my favorites, since I was never really able to see it out of Shakespeare until the character came along, and now I see it as a beautiful name for a girl. Also love Kate, Shannon, Boone, Desmond and Penelope/Penny… all thanks to that show  I know there's more, but those are just my favorites off the top of my head.

As for Jericho… well, the names of my two favorite characters are already "taken": my grandpa and grandma are Jake and Emily, and Emily is also my name (they just started calling me by my middle name to ease the confusion, and it pretty much stuck). Aside from those two, I REALLY love the name April now, and seriously considered using it for my next daughter. Jonah is another name I completely fell in love with thanks to the show. I also love Stanley on a boy, which is a name I never really liked beforehand. Love the name Jericho itself, too.

I thought this thread looked like a lot of fun so I'm kind of resurrecting it from the dead! Hope nobody minds :D

My tastes in television shows pretty much mirror Charity's, so sorry for any incessantly annoying repeats! My all time favorite show is Lost, and I have a pretty decent handful of names from there. I absoloutely adore Hugo, Sawyer and Desmond for names now! Especially the first, I think, but I just love all three. I also like Jack -- it was always a bit plain for me, but somehow now it seems a little bit better. Go figure! As for girls, I really love both Shannon and Juliet now, in addition to Claire, Kate, and Penelope/Penny.

Char is way more obsessed with Jericho than I (and probably the rest of the nation...) am, but I still love it and it has some really awesome names! My favorites are also probably Jake and Emily, but since those are out of the question I must admit that I really love Stanley, Jonah, and Roger for little boys now! Johnston is a bit old fashioned, but I like it as well. As for girls, I have to go with Bonnie and Skylar - love them! I also really like Mimi, April, and Darcy... there's just way too many! I like Jericho for a name, as well... hoping that maybe someday Char has a little boy named that :D

I'm also a pretty big fan of Grey's Anatomy. I fell in love with both Derek and Finn (probably as a nickname for Finley) for boys, and for girls I really love both Isobel and Addison -- I don't think I would ever use the latter, but I still really love it on a girl, regardless of what a lot of people say. Because I'd never really seen it used on either gender prior to the show, it's all girl to me.

And finally, my guilty pleasure is Gossip Girl; I've always loved the books and now I guiltily admit to liking the show. Again I love a lot of the names used here: I never used to like Chuck at all, but now I absolutely love the name, as well as Nathaniel/Nate. My absolute favorite girls' name from the show is Eleanor, but I also love Serena, Blair, and Lily.

Okay... I'm shutting up now :)
