So for a story I'm writing, there are these three siblings: Kendall Annalise "Kenny" (girl, age 13), Carter ________ (boy, age 14), and Lily ______ (girl, age 11). I've had these characters forever with the last name Tyler, but it just isn't suiting me anymore because Carter Tyler doesn't work. Originally, he had a different father (ergo, different last name) but now he has a different mother just because the way I am writing this story it makes much more sense.

Anyway, I've got a list of surnames, and I'm favoring a choice few, but I really don't know which one to pick based on flow, sound, common-ness, etc.

Also, I would like suggestions for Carter and Lily's middle names. Carter's was Angelus and Lily's was Tabitha (which I might keep, saying it's a family name for them or something), but I'm not a fan of either at the moment though I still think both flow okay. I definitely want to change Carter's middle name though, but I want to use something that isn't my favorite style because I love the name Carter and don't want to use a first and middle combination on a character that I would use for a potential future child (though I stand by Carter as his first name).

I definitely think McGrath sounds best with all three name choices here! I think Ellsworth clashes with the L's in Kendall and Lily. Carter Corrigan and Kendall Corrigan don't really sound great. Lily Malloy and Kendall Malloy kinda clash, especially the all's in both Kendall and Malloy. Tavares is nice, but I just feel like McGrath suits them nicely.

Whenever I'm choosing last names for my characters, I always try and think about what nationality I picture them to be and incorporate it in. Especially if I mention that Chiara is names after a grandmother or something, then obviously as Chiara is very Italian they are more likely an Italian family and O'Donnell is probably not the last name choice for them. Though tbh all of the names you chose made me think more Irish and McGrath suits them nice. Don't mind me though, I'm in bed about to go to sleep and probably rambling wayyyy to much haha.
