I'm looking for some old fashioned colonial names for a story I'm writing that's set in the south during the civil war. I chose a particular area for the setting and looked at some of the census records from around that time so I could choose an authentic name that people that lived there would have had.

I tried an elimination poll with the names and the final three names were Eliza, Elizabeth and Charlotte. I really don't like the name Eliza anymore and it seems like every old fashioned colonial story I try to write has a character named Charlotte or Elizabeth (especially Elizabeth).

Anyway, here's the list-please feel free to suggest names:

Eliza
Kate
Elizabeth
Susan
Mary
Margaret
Ruth
Florence
Catherine
Minnie
Mittie
Virginia
Martha
Sarah
Charlotte
Louisa
Bella
Hannah
Caroline
Isabella
Sophia
Ann
Arabella
Magnolia
Clara
Kittie
Marietta
Ella
Susanna
Celia
Adelina
Alice
Ava
Milla

Thanks so much!

Remember was a little girl who came over on the Mayflower.  It would be cool to have someone write Remember's story.
