I really love the name Emmeline (Emm-ah-lyne) and it's currently at the top of my list for girls. I have a cousin who recently had twin girls named Madison and Emerson, whom they call Maddy & Emmy. I'm concerned that if I name my child Emmeline (we would probably call her Emme/Emma) it would be too close to my cousin's little girl. We see them often (once a monthish). Would you consider this to be too close to use? Would it be rude to ask if she minded?

Another baby already?! Haha. I think that it it will be cute if one is Emmy and one is Emme. Because they aren't sibs it will just be fun to be able to call them in for dinner as "Emme and Emmy".

Hahaha no, not another baby yet. Hopefully a while before that happens :D

Just wondering about the name for any possible future children. I don't want to fall in love with something I won't be able to use.

Thats a tough one. I think for me personally the names are too close and it would bother me too much to use. If you aren't bothered by it I would ask this cousin for her opinion, if she was bothered by it I don't think I would use. I know I would be peeved if someone I was close to named their child something very similar to mine. I do love Emmeline though.

I think it is too close, sorry.

I wouldn't use it.

What about Evaline (Ev-uh-leen), Evangeline, Evelyn, Ever, or Evy?

Good luck!

Emmeline is a gorgeous! It is pretty close, but it definaly wouldnt be rude to ask if she minded :D It's much better ask then afterwords hear her be upset, after its too late. There's definately different nn options to do, to not mix them up. Emme/Emma/Mel/Melly etc, or just use her full name, or even initials! (sp? lol):
Emmeline Juliet (EJ, Emmy-J, Emma-Jules etc)
Emmeline Danielle (ED)
Emmeline Belle (EB, Emmy-Belle)
Or something of the sort. WDYT? Hope I helped! ~Haddie
