It's official. I have fallen in love with the name, Phoenix. If I had a boy I can completely picture myself naming him, Phoenix James. But I have some concerns. Is it too "out-there?" Is it unpractical? I know some will say "it only matters if you love the name" but I also do realize that he has to deal with people other than me! :) What are your opinions on the name? I usual love a name one day and then hate it the next but I have loved this for months now!

I went through a phase of liking Phoenix for a boy. I still like it now, though I'm not sure I would ever use it myself. Still, I think it's a nice name and not too 'out there' to use. A favourite combo of mine was Phoenix Noah or Noah Phoenix

Some friends of mine named their little boy Jacob Phoenix (born this past Dec.). But of course they call him Jacob.

Of course I've always felt a unique name is wasted in the middle name spot ... If you love it enough to use it, then it should be a first name.

Phoenix isn't exactly my style but I don't think it is any more weird or different than what other people are using these days. Its recognizable so at least people will know how to spell and pronounce it.

I wouldn't use Phoenix myself.

Though Phoenix James is handsome & I cant see any teasing potential :)

I'm also in love with the name, Phoenix. I love it as a unisex name too. There's just something about the name. It doesn't sound "odd" or anything, it's just very unique. But I do agree with Katie; if you love it enough to use it, then it should definately be the first name or at least the name he goes by.

People are naming their children things a whole lot stranger than Phoenix. Think of all these crazy celebrity names like; Apple, Egypt, Puma, Denim & Diezel, Fifi Trixabelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, Audio Science, etc....And yes, those are real names of celebrities' children. Not judging, but I'm just saying that if you're concerned about a name being a little too "out there," just think of names like these and yours probably wont seem so bad.

Just a disclaimer; No, I'm not bashing celebs for naming their children extremely unique names.

Hope I could help!

Well, I don't see him getting extreme teasing at all. I think it'd age okayly... Like, I personally can't imagine a grandpa Phoenix, but that's me personally.

Phoenix James is a nice combo! :)

I LOVE Phoenix. I think it's cool and so modern. I could see it on a little boy and a man. I like it for a first name and a middle name it just depends on the combo.

I say if you love it definitely go for it!
