So my boyfriend and I were bored one evening and began discussing our future children's names. We hardly agree on any girl names. I like the more classical, elegant names whilst he prefers more alternative, unisex names.

He suggested Spencer for a girl after meeting a woman at our property management office named Spencer, a few days ago. At first thought, I was weary but the more I have thought about it... The more it's grown on me!

From what I've read online and what I've asked friends, NO ONE likes it. I'm still not sure about I feel about it but just wondering your thoughts?

If I were to use the name, she'd be Spencer Elizabeth.

I'm not a fan of Spencer for a girl, but I think it's very handsome and royal-sounding for a boy. I think Spencer is too masculine for a little girl. Elizabeth is a nice, classic middle name though.
If your boyfriend likes unisex names, how about...

Emerson (nickname Emme. Emme is pronounced Em [as in EMily], and then ee [as in Ellie]). Emerson Elizabeth would not be a good though, since they both start with E.

Hayden - Hayden Elizabeth would be okay.

This suggestion might be a little too different, but how about Kayden nickname Kadie (pronounced Kay-dee)?

It's not my personal taste, but I'd actually love to meet a little girl named Spencer. I usually hate boy names on girls (Eg Sawyer, Elliot, etc) but I like it. Spencer Elizabeth is beautiful, I like the femininity that Elizabeth brings. I'd use the nickname Penny :)

I love Spencer on a BOY but it's 'poor kid' for a girl.

Sorry hate it. Elizabeth is too old fashion for me.

Yes! I am the same way. Not a fan of boy names on girls, like Sullivan, Sawyer, Mason/Masen, etc But something about this name sticks around for me... But I still don't know if I would ever use it. There are tons of names I love, but could never see myself using for my child. This might be one of them. Either way, it's fun to think about.

As for Elizabeth, the femininity was exactly what I'm going for. Boyish name with a more elegant middle name. My boyfriend suggested calling her by both names but that may become a mouthful, haha.

As for Penny, I don't LOVE the nickname, but when I mentioned Spencer to my mom thats immediately what she said. Haha

Thank you for the input! I really appreciate it.

Madi - Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not a huge fan of unisex/boy names for girls... just with Spencer as the exception haha. So when the time comes for Children for me and my significant other, he will just have to get over it and let me pick a girly name haha!

Just a funny thought: My friend is actually having a little boy named Emmerson and calling him Emme, I hate that. Love Emmerson, and love Emme for a girl nickname but I think its terribly emasculating for a boy to be called Emme... lol

I love Spencer for a girl! Definitely on my list for my next baby! The only thing that would stop me from using it is that my daughter is named Sutton, so Sutton and Spencer might be too much.

Spencer Elizabeth is gorgeous.

I don't love Spencer, but I don't hate it. I like it on a boy, but just not my taste for a girl. If its the name you two love though, then use it! Spencer Elizabeth would be lovely.
