Hey guys, okay so we really love the name Fernanda for our daughter (my husband is Brazilian). It means adventurer/traveler. I love it and think its beautiful, but I wanted some other opinions on it. Please let me know what you think of it! Thanks!!

If you love the name then use it :P

It's not my style, but we all have different opinions which is one of the joys of this world.

Well I automatically think of the masculine version Fernando which makes me imagine someone of Spanish descent.
Though I think it has an ancient sophistication to it which conjures up the image of royalty

Thanks, she will be part Brazilian, and Fernanda is a common name in Brazil. Do you think it is too od, will she get teased for it? Any others thoughts on the name? Thanks :P

im actually brasilian myself & i like the name fernanda.
its just that all the fernanda i know are old ladies but hey, they had to be young once.

i grew up in a part where there was mostly portuguese & brasilian people so it was common. idk if she'll be teased but it can depend in the area you live. if its that uncommon in your area & there is no other brasilian or even hispanic people, the kids may say its weird or something. but to me fernanda isnt a funny name.

the name i love to death but cant use is Camila.
its a common name in brasil but its still really cute in english.

i also like marisol, angelina, vivianne/vivienne, jaqueline, luciana.

I actually had a foreign exchange student who was named Fernanda. She was the sweetest girl I ever met. So when I hear the name, I think of a smart, dark haired girl with a big heart. Her nn was Ferni. Beautiful name!! Good luck!

Thanks, I really like the nicknames Ferni or Nanda. What do you think? Also what middle names do you like with Fernanda. We are also considering the name Daniela, nn Dani. Which do you like better, Daniela, or Fernanda? Thanks!!

out of those two i like daniela better.
it sounds better in both languages.
fernanda sounds weird in english.
francesca to me sounds better than fernanda cuz the nan here in america sounds weird. in portuguese it does the nun sound instead of nan.

jaqueline & camila are beautiful in portuguese & in english.
also does he like the name renata? its very brasilian.

Well, we like all kinds of names really its just that because my husband is Brazilian, we thought Fernanda would honor his culture, but we don't really think it goes well with her brothers names, so we have a new poll about other name suggestions! Thanks for the help though! :)
