I got back from my workshop in Brussels this weekend, and I thought I would share a few names of Belgian participants:

Zeno ... Never heard of that before, but it is kinda nice.
Diedrik ... I love that spelling. It adds that nice contemporary touch to Dietrich.
Anneleen ... pron. like Un-nuh-lane. Not sure if I like it.
Marjan ... I would say it is an alternative to Mary Jane or Marianne.

Also, my SIL gave birth to a beautiful little girl past friday, and her name is Selma Charlotte, little sister to Carl Augustin. I have not really expected Charlotte bc it is a bit to similar to Carl IMO. But Selma wasn't that much of a surprise. I knew they would pick an uncommon name.

And a friend of mine told me that a friend of hers had another daughter a couple of weeks ago. Louisa Marie is now big sister to Sophia/ Sofia Elisabeth.

So, what do you all think of these names?

I think Selma is lovely and Sofia/Sophia and Louisa work well for siblings.

I kind of like Dietrik the others are not my style.

I really like Anneleen. It's rather pretty.

While we're on the topic of Belgian names; I live with someone from Belgium. Her name is Kiona?

I like the pronunciation of Anneleen, but the spelling throws me off a bit. I initially thought it would be pronounced like "Anne-uh-leen".

I really like Selma Charlotte! I think the slightly uncommon name paired with a traditional middle is a great choice.

Sophia/Sofia and Louisa make a really cute sibset.

Well, the pronouncation is the Dutch/ German one. I always wanted to say Annaleen because Annalena is a very popular name in Germany. But most of the time they called her Anni. At the beginning I was confused, since it is my nickname as well, but I got used to it.

I also like the combo Selma Charlotte. They probably call her Charlotte or a nickname of it. They also call their son by his 2nd first name. My bf wants to continue that theme with our children. Let's see if that will happen, but for now I am okay with it.
