What does everyone think of Ashtyn for a girl? I personally adore it, even if it is a "boy" name. I was named a unisex name and it never bothered me a bit. I keep getting comments about how its not a name for a girl, but I disagree. I'm just wondering if there is ANYONE on this site that thinks Ashtyn is ok for a girl.

I don't like it at all for a boy OR a girl. It sounds like you're saying "Ash Tin". I definetly would not want to be associating my kid with cigarettes. Just my opinion, though. Some unisex names are okay (like your name and my name), but this one isn't good for EITHER gender.

  • Interests:I LOVE reading. I'm into almost every genre and generally read a book a week, if possible. I like Iris Johansen, Karen Marie Moning, Stephen King, James Patterson, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Diana Gabaldon, Kathy Reichs, and Robert Burns (every Scot's favorite author). I really love music and even got accepted to the Mason Gross School of Performing Arts at Rutgers University (my alma mater) for vocal performance. Unfortunately performance life was not for me, so I went into English Lit and French instead. Music is still a big part of my life, and I like a multitude of musical genres from Reggae to Rock to Opera. I've seen Carmen and La bohème each twice. (And I cry every time.) My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for The Beatles.

I really don't like the name Ashtyn or Ashton on a boy or girl. Overall, I think the name is too contrived and VERY trendy.

i agree with this statement completely. the reason i don't like uniesx names on girls is because i don't think they are attractive. the y in the spelling also seems soo trendy. i just don't like the sound of it on a girl, the reason is not only because i don't like unisex names, but also just the name in general.

I absolutely adore unisex names, especially on girls, as long as they're not too far fetched. Ashton is a great name! Although I don't mind the spelling of Ashtyn, I much prefer the original

I think Ashtyn is fine for a girl. I actually think it fits a girl better than a boy. I know a little girl named Ashlyn (which is similar) and it fits her fine.
That being said I've never been a fan of the Ashley/Ashlyn/Ashtyn names because they are so popular. But if you like it, Go with it.
