Do you think Dean could be a nn for Gideon? I love both names but Gideon feels too long and I don't like Giddy as a nn and Dean feels incomplete. So what do you think? Gideon nn Dean?

I think Di or Didi would be nice while he was small.

A couple more suggestions could be Ian, Eon (pronounced like either Ian or the word 'aeon'), Gidge, or Gadget. I know those last two verge a little on sounding like pet names, but they could be cute with the right kid. I also think the previously mentioned options of Dean and Dion are just fine, too.
