I was reading some reviews on babynamesworld.com on the various spellings of AH/UH-LAYN-UH and almost everyone said they got their named mispronounced/mispelled. I thought it was fairly easy to pronounce but maybe I'm wrong.

I really love the name but I'm worried if I ever used it, she would get her named mispronounced all of the time. Which spelling do you think is easiest just by looking at it?

Alaina- My favorite spelling
Alayna- Too trendy with the "Y"?
Elaina
Elena

Any others?

I like Elena, because I know a little girl with this name, and I like that its not cluttered with a lot of letters. Its the Greek way to spell it, but a lot of people would probably mispronouce it as eh-LEN-uh

Yeah I really do like it spelled Elena. It seems far simpler and not so trendy. I'm just afraid it will get super mispronounced since I really love the Ah-lay-nuh pronunciation.

But I have heard it prn'ed Ah-la-nuh.

Ashley--I never realized her name was pronouced as eh-LAY-nuh. I would've said uh-LAWN-uh based on the spelling...

For that pronunciation (AH/UH-LAYN-UH) I like the spelling Alaina.

But generally, I prefer Elena.I know your pronunciation is eh-LEN-ah, but in Italy we say EH-len-ah. I've got an aunt with this name (:

I have always loved Alaina, but I have recently started liking Elena.

I also like Alanna, but pronounced Ah-LAWN-uh.

good luck!

I prefer Elena.

Alaina- LOVE IT
Alayna- Definitely the trend to use a "y" whenever you can
Elaina- Somewhat LOVE it
Elena- my absolute favourite spelling but there is always the mispronounciation problem and I don't like the name Eh-LEN-uh.

LOL. Yeah. When I first met James and his kids, I had the impression that her name was spelled Elena. But, they got her name out of a baby name book, so they might have assumed that is was prn eh-LAY-nuh, because I have heard it prn uh-LAWN-uh more. Except for the girl at work.
