I just remembered a name that I really used to like, but forgot about. It's Bela (pronounced BAY-lah). I like it for a girl, but the only problem is that it is a strictly male name in some cultures (think Hungarian? composer Bela Bartok and American banjoist Bela Fleck). I also think that it might be mispronounced like Bella (which I like, too). I couldn't stand spelling it Bayla or any other alternate spelling. Opinions, please!!!

God bless all baby namers!!!

It's not really my style. And I think it would be mistaken for Bella A LOT.

I like names that are really popular in other countries, but not the US, so props for that.

I like it better on boy, but that might be because I am Hungarian. I think of Bela Lugosi aka Dracula.

I'm sure almost everybody would mispronounce it Bella especially because of Twilight... maybe you could use it in a few years. I do like it much better for a girl and I don't think anybody would think it was masquline. Good luck! :)
