So, I've been reading Villette by Charlotte Bronte, and the main character's name is Lucy Snowe (first and last). I was wondering if that would make a good combo or not.

Do they not go together very well (as a combo)? Do you like the name?

Personally, I'm not fond of Lucy, and Snow (or Snowe) is just a guilty pleasure. I do like honoring characters from books, though, and the name's growing on me.

What do you think?

I love the name Lucy! but on a little girl. I like Lucielle for a middle name, not a first name. Snow, I can't stand for a first name

I love Lucy <3

Not a fan of Snow though. It sounds kinda like a last name (:

I adore Lucy!
Though I agree with Ash; to me, Snowe sounds too "surname-y".

I love the idea of honouring a literary character, but Snowe is just not my style.

That's exactly what I thought!

I do kind of like Snow, but only as a gp, don't get me wrong! Paired with Lucy, though, it does sound like a surname.

I don't know; I don't want to write off the combo just yet. I think I'll add it to my gp list (that I keep in my head :)).

Thanks!

P.S. I just finished the book today, and it was amazing! Just wanted to recommend it to you all...

I might have to go read the book, haha!

I always fall in love with names of literary characters haha! <3 Charles Wallace, Alaska, Colin, etc... <3 <3 <3

But, Lucy Snowe isn't quite my style :) I don't particularly care for Lucy, nor Snowe. Lucy is a fine name, very sweet I guess. Just not my style. Plus, Snowe really is very last namey. I think you could pull it off as a middle name, I guess. But yeah lol :P

Neither name is really my style. I like the name Lucy but my friend's kitten, another friend's guinea pig, and my sister's dog are all named that. It is similar to Molly: cute, adorable, but....so many people's pets took it that it's ruined for me as a baby name.

For literary names I tend to lean more towards the writer's names for some reason. I like Irving, Findley, Harper, Elliott.

I don't think you should use a name you're not very fond of (as you said above). Lucy is alright and Snow is a little cheesy, especially if you were to use the full name.
