Okay, that title made like no sense, so......
what do you guys think of double names? Like John-David or Mary-Ellen? For some reason I love the name John-David as a middle name. But wdygt? (what do you guys think?)

I think it depends on the names combined. I prefer John-David & Mary-Ellen for first names.

I don't really care for them.

I prefer double names like Julie-Ann, Cara-Lynn, Emma-Leigh but again, I much prefer Julianne, Caroline and Emily.

I just don't see the point in them.
No offence.

I dont like them.
My Niece (my cousins daughter, she calls me that but technically isn't my niece) anyways her name is a double name. I dont really like double names, and the majority of people just call her by her first name because its too much hassle.

It all depends to me :)

Like first off, on the flow! Mary-Ellen flows sweetly into each other, so it works well and isn't too much a hassle to say full out.

Then, where it's placed. As a middle name, no one would be saying it horribly often so it's not a big deal. A
Double middle name is a great way to be able to honor family too :P

I kinda really like Emma Katherine as a double name myself. It's a bit long, so I'm still iffy. She'd be called Emma Kate or Katie all the time anyways, so I guess length doesn't matter. But yeah :D

Hope this helps!

As a general, no.

I don't like classics with names such as Mary and Elizabeth.

I like Lily-Rose, Faye-Marie and Molly-Jade - you may see that one a lot around here :)

Not a fan of double names, I'd much rather use two middle names that make a really long first name. Also, my favorite first names are all pretty long in their own right so it definitely isn't something I'd do, but here is a few that I think work ok. I don't use the hyphens at all, though, because it just looks odd.

Eliza Jane
Claire Eliza
Lilith Fiona
Lucia Violet

I'm not a fan of them. They just makes the name look long and clunky in my opinion.

Certain names like Emma-Jane (or just Emma Jane) are okay, but I still don't see the point.

I personally wouldn't hyphenate a name because I just picture it being a lot of hassles with filling out forms, form programs on government sites not recognizing the hyphen, the name not fitting into the given space for different applications, etc. I know, not a great reason to avoid it lol but it's the first thing that popped to my mind.
I have a Julieanne. We spelled it that way specifically so if she shortened it there was no chance of Juli, (july in german), and instead she'd be JULIE or ANNE if she shortens it. So it's spelled what some consider to be oddly, but we love it.
I had intended to name her Julie Anne Maree ____ but instead, we went with Julieanne and then my sister's name, after our then three year old boy said that he liked Julieanne better.

I like names like Amylynn, Amyrose, Saralynn, etc
I like blended names if they work without a hyphen I guess. Any name can become awesome though once it's attached to a little person :)

As others have said, it depends on the name. I generally don't like hyphens though.
