Did anybody else know that Miley Cyrus has a sister named Noah?!

That is definitely not a name for a girl. :P

Another unisex name I hate. Noah is a beautiful BOY name.

She also has a brother in Metro Station.

So it's actually a unisex name? Crazy... :P

ugh, Metro Station is horrible.

Sorry, if anyone likes them, but they are.

Noah is better than Metro Station, but I still don't like it on a girl.

The other Cyrus siblings are:
Brandi
Trace
Christopher
Braison

I don't think Noah is unisex at all. Any names book/site will tell you that it' BOY!
Ugh, what's wrong with using normal, feminine names on a girl?
*Sorry, but these things bother me :P*

Maybe they wanted a boy so badly that they didn't give up the name ahah :D

Anyways, I read that Miley's real name is Destiny Hope.

I just read she legally changed her name from Destiny Hope to Miley Ray in 2008. Ray after her dad, Billy Ray. Semi-cheesy if you ask me :/

Well, it is a bit cheesy, but as far as I'm concerned, Miley is better than Destiny :/

I don't think it's cheesey, I think it's kinda cute.

Yeah, it is better than Destiny Hope. I dislike both of those names. Bleh.

I did some research and I found something pretty interesting. There are two forms of Noah that derive from different names, one is masculine, the other is feminine.

The masculine Noah comes from the Hebrew name Noach, which means "rest and comfort"
The feminine Noah comes from another Hebrew name, No'ah, meaning "motion"
Both are pronunced the same

I'm curious. WDYT? Would you consider these as two different names or as a unisex name?

That being said, I definitely prefer Noah on a boy!

I still think of it as a boy name---the only girl I've ever heard it on is Noah Cyrus.

Although I did see it spelt Noa--can't remember where--may have even been this site---which I think looks more feminine

No'ah for me (In an Israeli accent) is cute! (All of my friends called No'ah are girls!)

No'ah is said like No (Not 'Noe', but just No) and then ah. :P *Sorry, bad explanation*

But Noah is said Noe-ah.

I love Noah on a boy (Mum was considering it for BenBen) but in hebrew it's Noach.. and i hate the -Ach- ending. :/

I couldn't believe it when I found out he was in Metro Station. Ick.

Anyways, that's interesting that Noah is derived from two different names for each gender. I don't think the Cyrus's were using that though. I think they just decided they like Noah on a girl.

There is actually a girl in the bible named Noah. She had four sisters named Mahlah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. She was the daughter of Zelophehad, a descendant of Joseph and a member of the clan Manasseh. She and her sisters petitioned for the right to inherit their father's property when he died since he had no sons. It's in Numbers chapter 27.

I kinda like it for a girl.

I'm such a weirdo!

Before reading this I would have never considered Noah for a girl.

But I don't hate it. I think it's kinda cute.

I definantly prefer it for a BOY though.

Because of my brother Noah will always be male to me. I mean if i wanted to honor him I would use Noah as a middle name for a girl but never a first name. I feel like anything goes gender wise when honoring depending on the name. Like Noah as a middle name for either gender but first name for a boy. I dont know it kinda depends on the name but Noah will always be boy unless its a middle name.
