What do you think of state names? Which state name would you use for your child? Also if you have used one let me know which one thanks for your time!

Also, what do you think of the name Iowa for a girl? What middle names go with Iowa? Also can you think of any possible nn?

I'm not a fan of continent/state/city/place names in general. Names like India/Ireland/China, Dakota/Indiana/Tennessee, London/Memphis/Dallas and Brooklyn just.....I don't know. They get on my nerves for some reason, personally. The only name that comes close to a state name that I can really stand is Caroline and Georgina. Otherwise its just to much.

Eh... I guess it depends on what it is. I wouldn't name my baby Florida. :-)

What are your thoughts on the name Iowa for a girl and what would you do as a middle name? Also would you have a NN for her?

Personally I think it sounds very "backwater" and odd and Iowa makes me think of " I owe you one"

It sounds very Native American. Not my style at all. But if you like it, it could be pretty. I think it would be best as a middle.

Charlotte Iowa
Madeline Iowa
Kamryn Iowa
Katherine Iowa
Elizabeth Iowa
Jocelyn Iowa
Julie Iowa
Eleanor Iowa
Savannah Iowa
Gracie Iowa
Macy Iowa
Darcy Iowa

As a first:
Iowa Louise
Iowa Macy
Iowa Rosalie
Iowa Katherine

I love place names, probably because I love travel so much. I'm not as big of fan of State names as much as Country/Continent/City names, but some are nice.

Girls:
Carolina
Indiana (as a middle)
Louisiana (not me personally, but it could be cute on somebody else's kid)
Maine

Boys:
Dakota
Tennessee

When it comes to place names I think it depends…
State names I like:
-Arizona (My current favorite, and in my defense it was a very popular girl’s name before it became a state)
-Dakota
-Carolina
-Indiana (I’m on the fence on this one)
-Georgia (Okay)
-Alaska
-Maine (Probably more as a mn)
-Virginia

City names I like:
-Phoenix
-Dallas
-Alexandria
-Brooklyn
-Austin
-Boston
-Chelsea
-Adelaide
-Houstan
-Paris
-London
-Madison
-Trenton

Country names I like:
-Ireland
-Britain
-Holland

My favourites are (Ones that sound a little more traditional):

Georgia

Sierra (Sierra Leone)

Ireland (This one is a guilty pleasure)

Jordan

Helena (St. Helena)

And then some others:

America

Kenya

India

Marshall

Senegal

Solomon

Africa

Monaco

Sweden

Israel

Romania

You can just find a list of countries in the world and sift through to find one you like.

...

I like place names, but tend to sway towards city/towns (Virginia, Charlotte, London etc.) rather than the more unique country names.

I don't really like it persay but I agree with Sierra that it could be an easy flowing middle name. With the right combos matched up with it, of course. ;)
