I never cared for this name on a girl. When reading/watching a Series of Unfortunate Events, I really couldn't imagine naming a girl Sunny. Maybe as a nickname. But, it always conjur up images of Sonny Bono. Well, long a behold, a girl began working with us and her name was Sunny. I don't know why but now I like the name. I wasn't particularly close with the girl. We usually worked different shifts. I think it has to do with the fact I can see the name being used instead of being male or a book character. I think it's an adorable name for a summer baby while avoiding using the name Summer. I just can't think of a good middle name to go with it. Though I like it, it has a very nickname feel.

WDYT?

Hmm, I think I'd have to meet someone with the name to get a better feel for it, just as you have. I like it, but at the same time, there's something about it that I don't...perhaps it is the fact that technically it would be a unisex name because of Sonny, and I tend to shy away from unisex names.

On a similar note, I've been thinking about the name Sun (as a middle name) recently. I've been rewatching LOST and there is a Korean character named Sun and I think it could make a cute middle name. If you like Sunny but feel a little unsure about it, Sun as a middle name could be a possible alternative.

I'm not so unsure about it as a name in general. But, if I was to name my daughter Sunny and go into work with her. It would be a bit awkward. Lol. Now that I can invision an actual, grown woman with the name, I like it.

Sun as a middle name is cute! I also like the idea of Soleil, which, of course, means sun.

You can use any name that ends in -son and have the nick name Sunny!! Like Madison, Addison, Alison, Emerson, Ellison, etc!! I think Allison is really lovely, tbh! And I actually have a short story with a girl named Allison with the nick name Sunny <_<

I can picture it on a little girl, and its a guilty pleasure for me personally <_<

I was just going to suggest a name ending in "-son" with the nickname Sunny, but Haddie beat me to it. <_<
I personally like it only as a nickname, but not as a stand alone name.

I used to adore the name Sonnet with the nickname Sunny.
...actually, I still love it, but obviously it doesn't go with my other girls. <_<

I actually have a female 'cousin' named Sonny. And I always thought her name was a bit odd. Sunny I could see but Sonny...

I think Sunny is adorable as a nickname...maybe for Susan or Susannah or as Haddie suggested any of the -son names.
