I'm really crushing on the name Rudy at the moment.
I'm not sure if I like it as a stand alone name or as a nickname for a longer name.
There's the obvious Rudolph/Rudolf but I'm not sure if there's any others.
Thoughts?
Let's talk about Rudy

I'm personally not keen on Rudy at all but I definitely think it needs a full name and can't stand alone unfortunately. Here are some suggestions:
Rudyard
Rudiger
Reuben
Rufus
Rupert
The last three I think could work especially with a 'D' middle name or if you had one in your surname

No D in my surname. But I like the idea of Rufus with a D- middle name potentially. Not a huge fan of the others.
I'm not against Rudolph either, just curious what else may be out there.

I really like Rudy for a boy! The Book Thief made me fall in love with the name. It was on my list for a while with the nickname Rue, but now it's more of a guilty pleasure name for me than anything. I don't think Rudy necessarily needs a longer name, unless you really don't like it on its own - it stands alone just fine.

Like Jenna, I was sold on Rudy through The Book Thief! Love it standalone or for Rudyard/Rudolf.

How do you even pronounce Rudyard? Rudy-ard? Rudy-yard? Rud-yard?
I've never heard of The Book Thief, just like the name
Hesitant on both the Rudolf and Rudolph spellings. So standalone may be best. Unless I go with Rufus.

I adore Rudy, I think that it works well on it's own. Not a fan of Rudolph, but Rudyard is pretty cool, and Rufus nn Rudy is sweet as well.

Rudyard is said Rudd-yard, like Rudyard Kipling (author of The Jungle Book and "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi").
Yeah standalone is probably my favorite. Of the two spellings, I'd choose Rudolf because it looks a little more foreign and less reminiscent of the reindeer, lol.

Thanks.
That's why I'm hesitant about Rudolph, the reindeer. I know this is a bit of a stretch and maybe even silly but Adolf is the reason I'm unsure about Rudolf, not sure I like the same ending like that.

What do you think about Rufus Dylan as the Rudy combo for Rufus?
I like that Dylan also carried the Dy look to it.
