Some "car" inspired baby names don't strike me as a car name, ie Lincoln, Daytona, Sienna, Acadia... the last two strike me as nature names, the first presidential. Daytona is a place. Ford feels very surnamey to me. Bentley seems to becoming more popular.. I'm on the fence.
Otherwise.. names like Mercedes, Chevelle, or Corvette aren't my style at all. I don't care for how they sound, nor the feel / personality they carry.

I have to agree with Remy... I really like Lincoln and Ford as surnames/presidential names; they don't make me think of the cars. I don't associate Sienna with the car either, and I've heard Bentley so much that it doesn't bother me... I wouldn't use it, but the car is not the first thing I would picture.
I think Camry, Mercedes, and Corvette are all way too car-specific for me to consider using.

I actually do like car names like Mercedes, Camry, Chevelle, Corvette, Lexus, Portia on girls. The only car name I like on a boy is Bentley.

I agree with this. I come from a car-loving family, so I like names like Shelby, that make me think of cars. But, I think something like Corvette is just far too much, it seems tacky. A boy with Shelby as a name has a more subtle legacy of cars, as do Lincoln and Ford.

Mercedes is actually a name though, not just a car name. I think it's quite pretty. Though I'll admit I once thought of a joke where a girl named Mercedes has sisters named Chevrolet and Chrysler.
Actually I wouldn't mind any of those on the list used as names, except for maybe Chevelle and Corvette.

I like Lincoln and Ford, but I don't really consider them car names. They're more surname-y, and both have presidential cred too.
I have to disagree with most of the above posters: I can't stand Bentley. It's too trendy and teen mom-ish for my taste. Bennett, Benson, and Benjamin are much better.
Mercedes and Sienna aren't bad as names, they're just not my style.
