Hi all! My husband and I found names that we really like but are concerned that they don't "flow together" enough with his surname. My main concern is my daughter loving her name and not feeling ridiculed in school or elsewhere in life when her first and last name are said together (also, in the rare cases, when the full name -- i.e., including the middle -- is spoken.)

Her name would be Claire Grace Urnst. His surname makes things somewhat difficult, but we really do love these names. Do first and last names have to go together? Do you think my child could be made fun of for this name combo -- especially the first and last name? Say it out loud and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

To me, flow is very important.  But I don't see an issue with Claire Urnst.  It is a lovely name, go for it!

I tend to be a stickler for "flow" in a name, but I agree with the previous posters that it's really not an issue.  Claire Grace Urnst is a nice name, and I think the only reasons there's a "flow" concern is because all three names are one syllable (which is not a big deal at all), and because Claire and Urnst, at least to me, clash the tiniest bit with the repeating R sounds.  Claire Urnst might sound a bit like Clairurnst.  That being said, however, I don't think it's a big issue.  I don't think a girl named Claire Urnst would be made fun of for her name at all, especially because Claire is such a pretty name!  If you and your husband love it, I say go for it.
