Hey guys! I haven't been on in a while, and I've missed BNG. I plan to get back into the swing of the things and get my Feedback On Your Combos thread back going again, but first I wanted to ask what you guys thought of a few names (mostly GPs) I've been tossing around. I'll also probably have a topic soon in Writer's Block, where I'll be asking what names you think best fit my characters for a new story, but I haven't narrowed it down enough yet.

So for now, here are some names (some new, some older) that I'm not sure about. What do you think?

Morgan - I adore this name, but I don't know if I would use it on a child, and therefore it might work for a male character. I know Morgan is common among girls, but I think it's so handsome on a boy (and the connotation with Derek Morgan from Criminal Minds helps).

Gray - I've loved this one for a while. I just am iffy about ever using it because I feel like 1) my family would be critical of it and 2) with names like Grayson getting popular, I don't want my kid to have that "trendy" name that is super common. Part of the reason I like Gray is that it's different but simple, with an interesting meaning, and I want the name to retain its individuality.

Breccan "Breck" - My love of Beck is making me wonder about this one, but there's a kind of trendy sound about Breccan that I'm not sure I like.

Beckett "Beck" - Just one I've liked for a while but never really put on my list.

Walker - Definitely a GP, not sure I'd ever use it but could be a good character name. WDYT?

Jasper - I've fallen in love with this name since watching The 100, and I just think it's a really handsome name.

Quinton "Quin" - I like the kind of nerdy feel this one has, though I know two Quinns (male) and it makes it a bit awkward, so I'd probably never use it.

Helena - I pronounce this one HELL-en-uh, and I like it as a nod to the Greek myth Helen of Troy.

Phoebe - Another Greek name, I've always been on the fence about it.

Miranda - I don't love it enough to use it, but maybe for a character. Miranda Lambert is a positive connotation here.

Elaina - A name I'm iffy on but am considering for a character.

Thanks for any opinions!

Morgan - My first boyfriend was named Morgan. We're still really good friends so I have a positive connotation with the name. I think it is really handsome for boys, especially paired with the right middle. Morgan Phillip Gray would be a handsome choice. :)

Gray - I have Grey on my own list. I quite like it. Handsome, simple, and would fit a wide range of personalities.

Breccan - definitely has a trendy feel. I like the sound, though. I think it is a name most boys would like to have. Breccan (and especially Breck) makes me think of the Christmases I spent in Breckenridge skiing/snowboarding. Not a bad connotation for me, but some people associate it with all of the weed and alcohol problems there. I wouldn't make that be the thing that has you take it off your list, I just wanted to make you aware.

Beckett - I go back and forth, I like it, but I don't love it. I prefer Beckham.

Walker - definitely a great character name. I think it would be nice on a kid, but I keep going back to the fact that it is such a tease-able name.

Jasper - I absolutely love Jasper, I have it on my list as an MN. So charming and handsome.

Quinton "Quin" - nms

Helena - I love this, she's recently been added to my list. I use the other pronunciation, though: Hell-LAY-nuh.

Phoebe - just one of those names I can't love. the sound just bothers me.

Miranda - feels a little dated imo. I like the nn option of Mira, though.

Elaina - I always want to read it as Eliana. I do like the sound, very pretty. I prefer the Elena spelling, or just Elaine. Pretty either way, though!

Thanks so much for your input! I didn't know anything about Breckenridge but am very very iffy on Breccan right now so it doesn't really matter.

Funny, because I always tended to read Eliana as Elaina, which is why I lean towards (just for easier reading purposes) Elliana.

I guess maybe because I know more Eliana's than Elaina's, lol :P very interesting!
