Someone I know called their son Aleksey. Now, to me, that sounds like the name Alexy, which is a girls name.
I don't really like this name for a boy (but of course I would never tell his parents), especially as so many girls are named this.
Just wondering what you guys thought of the name Aleksey for a boy.
For a boy?

Alexi/Alexy is actually a boy's name. I don't care for phonetic spelling you have posted here, but I think it's a okay name. I know a boy with this name, and it suits him

Alexei is actually a russian boys names. Some notable Alexeis are Tsarevitch Alexei Romanov, and Artist Alexei Butirsky.
I like it better as a middle name on a boy, although I love the nickname Alec.
A similar name is Nicolai; it's also russian.
Nicholas Alexei is one of my favorite names. I also like Alexei Matthais and Alexei Daniel.

Oh cool, didn't know that. I still prefer it as a girls name though.
The spelling Alexei looks like it should be pronounced Alex-I, which I like as a boys name.
Mm, I think I'm warming to the name...
